The only trouble with LED lights (I find) for working on cars is the narrow beam spread and the very narrow range of light frequencies emitted..

More often than not I end up getting the old bulb-on-a-wire out or the slightly newer 'neon tube in a tube' light.

Not that I have one of these lamps specifically..

Yep, I find that LED light is a bit of a strain on the eyes. Bulb-on-a-wire - inevitably each job gets through about 3 or 4 precious "proper" light bulbs that you can only buy under-the-counter these days due to their lack of shock resistance. The fluorescent tube lights fit the bill nicely and don't cost you a fortune, or burn the house down, when you leave them on in a remote corner of the loft for weeks. :-X

Yeah the bulbs in my lead lamp don't last long these days (even the 'shock resistant' ones) :(

Then again the bulbs in the pit don't last long either .. firing up a welder in the garage usually finishes at least one of them off ;D
