Yes they are the same basic car, built in the same factory...
The estate looks a bit better, as Holden couldn't tweak it much beyond the original, thankfully...

Yup :'( Bloody onanists >:( although, to be fair to the tissues, it is the full fat 576bhp from the factory.
Makes that £35k grey one look quite nice ::)
Import the Chevvy version for £30k and spend another £10k on the engine... an instant £15k saving 8)
-
Externally, Just changed the bumpers and skirts, same as they always do.
Front is ok, but they've dropped a clanger at the back. :(

If you're going to import a left hooker from The States, I can think of better cars to buy to be honest. ;)
-
Blown Camaro springs to mind... same chassis, but way cooler 8)

If we're talking leftys. Cts v. Still gm though. ;)

Why o why do people want to buy cars from spanky land?
go and buy from down under, steering wheel on the proper side for a start.,speedo might be in the foreign, but that's minor.
-
Have you seen the price of cars down under? :o

Not sure what the CTS-V is based on, but the Camaro is a 2 door VXR8 in all but styling, same suspension, same running gear, I'd put money on the exhausts being interchangeable too :y
If the cars were cheaper when they got here, then they'd sell enough to make them right hand drive...
-
I had a look at a Camaro at a Chevy dealership when I went to Texas in the summer.
They look great from the outside but the interior was full of black plastic and felt really basic, cheap and nasty to be honest. :(
Interestingly the salesman told me that he'd recently sold 2 to a company in Australia who import cars and pickups from the US, convert them to RHD and resell. I guess as the Aussie dollar is strong at the moment, the cars are cheap, but what of the conversion cost? :-\ There must be a margin and demand though as they wouldn't bother..... ;)

I had a Ford Falcon and it had the proper speedo but then again it was a 1976 vintage :y Had a 302ci and went very well. 8)

Yes, the Holden Commodore SS (or SS-V) look much nicer than the GTS.
I wish Vaux would import it as the Vauxhall Commodore.
GTS is naffsville Tennessee .
The Commodore Estates look the business
Holden's are available with LPG as an LPG version
Still need the lottery win though! ;D

Indeed, a new mid range Commodore estate, 3.6 v6 with lpg, can be had for about $36k, (£22k), but buy the time you've shipped it here and paid the 15% import duty and 20% vat, you're looking at near enough£40k :'( which opens the doors to E Class/BMW 5 Series/Jag XF/Volvo V70 estates, and all with change :-\
Second hand would be better, but still looking at around £25-30k for a V8 Commodore Sportwagon, by the time it's reached the drive :-\
Would be more viable if Holden did export sales, thereby pricing the cars to match the import taxes at the port of delivery, the shipping cost could be reduced by sending the cars to Korea to put on the Daewoo boats, (which is probably what they already do given the numbers they're not importing...)
Think the Commodore range runs from $35k-$60k, so if they we're available here at those prices, then they would be much more viable, adding a diesel lump to the range would help, the 3.0V6 would be a start... :-\
-
I like your thinking Al, I like your thinking very much indeed ;D
Who could we petition to get Holden to export to UK under some kind of deal..............?
Isn't Boris keen on getting foreign business to come here?
Nah, think I'll stick with my lottery plan............
