Man U. 0 v 1 Everton
Fair play to Everton though. ::)
-
It was always going to be a tough game. But at home? And not to score? >:(
-
Yes, very unfortunate. Hit the post and the bar as well. ;D ;D
-
So how long are we going to give David Moyes before he gets sacked? ???
I reckon if he hasn't got them into the top 4 by say mid January he'll be on his way... ;) Ian Holloway is available!! :y

Indeed. Moyse now has the perfect excuse to borrow Fergie's hair drier. IMO.
He needs to sort Welbeck out as well. Diving about the place. >:(
Watching the highlights, two or three poor decisions and then hit the post. They appear to be playing well enough. No Van Persie either.
-
Quite a good game so far tbh. :-\

Fair points Chris but it's sooooooo frustrating!
I never rated Moyes and feel he got the job due to his length of service / commitment shown at his previous club. I thought the squad would have carried him through the first season, but I was wrong :(
Don't see him being sacked though in his first campaign.

No, me neither. There was obviously a long period of acquaintance between Fergie and Moyes, several transactions with players, and promises heald true not play those players against Utd for whatever period after transfer.
I guess Fergie was satisfied he was the man for the job. Give it time, I'm sure things will improve. But, given the resources he had at Everton, I always fealt he did well there, but Moyes never quite found that last 1% to win trophies. I'm betting that monkey won't get off his back for a few seasons yet. :(
... it'll give the other teams a sense of hope. :(

If they do sack him, do you reckon Fergie would come out of retirement? ???

Unfortunately I think Man Utd are paying the price for a botched CEO and manager plus all back room staff transition all at the same time.
Mistakes:
1. CEO and manager both departing at the same time means they made a complete hash of transfers during the transfer window.
2. They badly need a creative midfield player which was identified but due to point 1 has failed to happen.
3. Replacing the manager and all of the first team coaching staff was a big mistake somebody like Phelan should have been kept on where he knows the players and the players know him to add some continuity.
4. Ferguson's hairdryer was worth a few percent in terms of commitment and effort of the pitch, so the team played better than the quality of some of the players justified, this has now been lost.
Other reasons:
1. The Glazers have cost Man Utd about £1bn since they have taken over just imagine the team if this had been spent on players.
League position:
Over 38 games this shows how consistently good a team is. Man Utd are currently not good playing well enough. The old saying you can't win the league by Christmas but you can certainly lose it applies here. Man Utd are now probably too far behind to win it and unless there is a massive improvement they will not make the top 4. Look how the current top 4 teams are brushing aside opposition that Man Utd are losing to.
If the bad form continues should Moyes be sacked, in a word no, give the man time. He did very well at Everton on a limited budget and you don't become a bad manager overnight.
Personally, I think he should motivate the team after two successive home defeats, by saying training everyday until your next win, so if you don't win before Christmas you are training Christmas day. :y :y :y :y

Rooney suspended and van Persie injured Rods.
I'm not sure how involved Edwards was in transfers but didn't they sort out Januzi post Fergie retirement? That was a find if ever there was one. Certainly Ferguson won't hear a word said against the Glazers and nothing has changed there that affects a title winning team.
I think Fillaini was a mistake. He might have been a handful at Everton with a Kick and rush style but Utd don't play that way, which exposes weaknesses in his game. Plus he needs a bloody hair cut ;D ...although I don't know if he played today.
And the back room staff he bought in are mostly Utd old school anyway, certainly a management team he knows. Better than those at Utd though....? :-\
Utd played well against Everton. But they did so in a way that Everton often played well but didn't quite take chances, bemoaned the ref, and where unlucky. That element concerns me more than anything else. Tbh.

IMO people are grasping at straws when they rely referees decisions with the good and bad largely cancelling each other out over the course of a season. Good teams create their own luck.
If Arsenal win tomorrow and drop points at the same rate as they have so far in the season for the rest of the season, then Man Utd cannot win the league even if they don't drop another point for the rest of the season. Moyes is clutching at straws when he was interviewed today saying they were still in the title race, only just about if Arsenal lose or draw tomorrow.
-
Arsenal are bound to bottle it at some stage, probably in the last 3 or 4 games of the season.... :-\
I hope not though as I'd like to see them win it!! :y
-
Woo, I see Van Persie played. (Goal dis aloud) :-\
