Title: Depreciation.
Post by: chrisgixer on 08 December 2013, 11:20:57
Keep hold if your omega. There's nothing in the list I want, and too much money to loose at the other end of the scale as well.  :-X

No Mercs listed? :o :o :o :o

My old company always bought Mercs for the directors as they virtually got all their money back when PX'd after two years use. :)

I think pretty much every Omega has stopped depreciating... sure you might pay more for a nicer one, but looked after, the nicer one will still be worth a bit more a couple of years later...

Using the best and worst examples there... the Insignia lost £24k in 3 years, so did the Range Rover that came first, and that only holds its percentage value because it's a new model and they can't build them fast enough... :-\
The list is flawed though, very few of the cars on it are likely to do the suggested 36k/3years, whereas you can guarantee that the other end of the list is full of fleet hacks ::)

Might as well set a budget and buy something that suits within it... the beauty of the Omega is that there's a model for everyone, they all broadly cost the same to buy and run, and for what they are, they make bloody good all round cars :y

The only reasons Stemos Daewoo was even worth considering was the fact it was about 2/3rds the price of a new one whilst basically being a new car... still wouldn't buy one though :-X

I'd agree with that.

I paid £1300 almost 3 years ago for an immaculate 53 plate MV6.

I'd need to pay the same paltry sum for a 56 plate today to match that.

Not easy, unless I buy a Daewoo.  ;D

I've said before that the Insignia is a good used buy :)..........provided it's new owner can tolerate those dated dumpy looks. :-[

...and gay wheel drive, and a big dollop of power missing, and zero head room in the back, and they haven't stopped depreciating, and so on...

I do however like the interior/dash, very smart. But 6k better than an omega? I'll keep mine in the bank thanks.

The hideous looks of the Insignia means I would only consider one when they drop below £1000.........So next year perhaps. :)
