Memorial service. Great place for a 'selfie' — not.

to me that looks like Dave' bombed that selfie ::) :o

The "lets make something out off nothing" press again ... :(
This was a CELEBRATION of the man's life, with singing, dancing etc etc ... and I'll bet there were several thousand "selfies", as well as many other photos, taken by all sorts of folks from the poorest to the greatest....
so to the overactive, idiotic, and basically RUDE paperazzi who took this one, and the slimeball editor who published it ...
so why point YOUR camera at the world leaders at all ? unless of course you were just LOOKING for an attempt to ridicule them ??
gutter press .. no other word for it.

Barack: Hay Dave lean in and we'll get a photo with the hot Danish blonde chick!!
Dave: Er that's Neil Kinnock's daughter in law, I think she's one of those bloody socialists...
Barack: Ah she'll get over it, you worry too much! Just lean in. Socialist did you say?? Michelle!! Am I one of those?
Michelle: Yes dear, get on with it! I want to go home!
-
Michelle: Dave a bit closer, the father-in-law wants to see what a socialist conservative PM looks like at close range! >:(
I thought a funeral was a celebration of a life, so whats the problem in people socialising?
-
Perhaps they were just as bored as me :( :( :( ;D ;D
-
Is Mandela dead then? :o :o

I'm getting fed up with the constant little digs, oooo look a selfie, ooo Dave goes on holiday and leaves a tip, ohh look he does this. ::)
I was a funeral couple of weeks ago, there was much laughter celebrating the 93 years she was alive, many photos were taken as many had not seen each other in years in some cases.

This was not a funeral but a memorial service. And the celebrating of life is normally directed towards celebrating the life of the deceased. Making a 'selfie' is an egocentric activity — not wrong per se, but there's a time and a place.
I merely think that the the UK's representative should show a bit more decorum and gravitas — and not appear like a teenager at the local McDonalds... ::)
That's my view and I'm sticking to it.

I don't think it was a particularly sombre occasion to be honest Nick, in fact from what I've seen the place was full of people dancing and singing. What's the guy supposed to do sit there like he's got a lollypop shoved up his chuff? :o ::)
Anyway Michelle looked like she was doing all the gravitas and decorum! In fact she didn't look too impressed at OBummer chatting up the Danish bird PM!! ;D ;D ;D More pics here. ;)

First comment very funny!! ;D ;D ;D

On reflection the whole thing was an undignified farce. :( :( The commentators even tried to excuse the crowds behaviour, I expected no less to be honest, why our world leaders allowed themselves to be part of this debacle I'll never know.
I fear for this once great country becoming a third world state like it's neighbour under Mugabe. It's mineral wealth including uranium is vast but in the wrong hands and the amount of top down corruption must be of concern and if you include controlling the shipping around the Cape to the West a selfie is the least of the problems :(.

I think the tone struck by the crowd enjoying itself was exactly what Mandela would have wished, and that would have included many taking photos to commemorate their attendance. :y
