Title: HID bulbs
Post by: TheBoy on 14 December 2013, 11:53:06
Any recommendations? Mine are shite (yet not purple). Lenses in reasonable nick.

Guess after 15years/212k, I can't grumble.

Got my Osram HIDs from www.hids4u.co.uk

Osram D2S 4300K (http://www.hids4u.co.uk/osram-d2s-xenon-hid-headlight-bulb.html)

Awful name for a company but they were quick & cheap and the bulbs appear to be genuine. I was initially dubious of the packaging (white box + bubble wrap) but the markings on the lamp appear genuine and the one I have fitted has worked perfectly for two years.

I assume they buy bulk to get the right price hence the plain packaging.

Sorry to butt in on this but a quick question about hid lights. I have a recently brought a fl and took off my pfl hid complete units. Now I know the complete units are slightly different in shape, would it be possible to fit the ballast and such to the fl lights?

Cheers Ian

Projector lights are a totally different animal to HID`s and won`t have the facility to carry the ballast pack, plus the lens needs to be "HID approved" in other words, marked with D2S. If you really want HID`s just retrofit with F/L units

I believe the ones I bought from hids4u are genuine Osram. (I can't remember whether the OE was Osram or Philips)

I bought a pair when one of the originals failed, I only changed the dead one.

So far (two years on) both are still working and appear to have identical colour and output.

Amshambles slightly quicker, and its genuine Amazon, not that Marketplace Abortion.
