Just before I order 1 just seeing if anyone has one they don't need for passenger side.
-
Pm tunnie he uses s/h pattern ones. ;D
-
Mine really were feked when I binned them, if taken off a breaker here and checked for wear in the ball joint, I don't see an issue with second hand. My originals lasted 165k.
I fitted Lemforder in the end, both sides brand new
-
They're less than a tenner new :-X
-
Just ordered one now anyway.

£35 for two complete track rods and a pair of droplinks delivered :-X
-
£8 for just the track rod end. The other side is solid.

Not worth going secondhand at that price unless your a lick penny :y
-
It was all new baby. A eurocarparts special. ;)

Considering decent droplinks such as Meyle HD, are more than that for a pair. You must be buying some shite parts!

Worth soaking in plus gas, as they can be a bugger to release :y

Reviews mixed, Meyle ones proven well lasting. Happy to pay extra, very solid build.

A bit rich coming from someone who refits 160k brake discs...
Besides, my cheapy ones last at least as long as those super duper Merle HD ones... ask Jimbob how many miles his lasted... sub 20k iirc ::)
-
Never refitted discs that old. ??? (Unless removing them for things like shoe change) Not even I can get them to last that long ::)
Back on topic, only one side of my track rod failed too. So if buying, might as well buy decent, as it's the cost of a WIM setup afterwards that bumps up the cost.
Though sometimes if it's a tune up they often do it for fraction of the price, sometimes
free :y

Cheap trackrod ends are false econoy, as the price of alignment will far outweigh the part cost... ...and cheap ones seem to fail in less than 2 years.
Hence I only use GM ones now.

A few years will do me. :)
-
I was planning on doing the tracking as it pulls very slightly to the left which could be as a result of the track rod end.

Nah.
Best to get it done right TBH, just doing the tracking on an Omega is a bit of a waste of money.
Cheapo trackrod ends frequently don't last the warranty period, 2 years is good going. Quality ones are usually good for ages, 70k plus, and often thats due to a failed boot.
-
but as you've already bought them, report back in a year or so :)
-
Indeed I will. :)
-
Good luck :)
-
If they cost a third of the price and last half as long, then that's not such a compromise imho :-\
-
It's made by Q-Drive if that helps.
-
Use what you can afford at the time.

If you see Delphi items for sale, they are the componants that VX used for production and genuine spares supply.

I sincerely hope not :o Their wishbone bushes only lasted a fortnight >:(

Until you factor in alignment costs.... ....which is the bigest cost anyway. Even if it was replaced under warranty, the alignment costs still need to be paid.
Given the relatively low cost of GM (or other quality parts), approx £25, this is why I'd recommend the route I take (after I tried some pattern ones, trying to say a few quid) :)

As ETA implies, Delphi's quality does appear to have nosedived dramatically. If they do still supply GM (not sure now?), its not the same shite they are pedalling to the motor factor channels.
-
Had some decent results with Delphi track rods. But I did ask on here what people use as their Wishbones bushes are utter shite, from what I've seen from members cars on my drive.
Checked Delphi TRE a few weeks ago. Still good and tight.
But as TB says, it's not really worth buying cheap parts in an area that involve set up each time a part is changed.
-
Well it's sorted now. Feels better drive wise and the wheel has pulled in straight.
