I cant dig nowadays :'( , dads an ex builder and likes help out when he can ... trying to think what else needs doing while hes here ;D I just found a bag of postcrete in the shed so just need a post an some nails . Fence posts not cheap for 8ft , nearly as dear as a fence panel now :o
-
true, prices have gone up some what. i bought a load of 4x4x 8` oak treated posts about 6 years ago, they cost a bloomin fortune tbh. panels are silly money now for what they are really.

I found that 100x100x5mm square tubing works out cheaper than wooden fence posts - luckily I have several scrap dealers and JamesDunkerley (http://www.dunkerley.co.uk/) within a couple of miles.
Last one I bought was actually 150mmx150mmx8mm, 8ft long - for a tenner - to replace a very exposed (to wind and dickheads) corner post. filled it full of concrete after installing.
A joyrider rammed into it one night ;D ;D ;D

He was carried into ambulance ;D
Car was totalled - 1990ish Astra estate, headlights had gone past the post - one either side.
Needed some new hammerite on the post, and the fence panel was a write-off ::)

Mine is the panel slid down a concrete post type. They rattle like hell. I would put a couple of wedges in to stop it but I know it annoys my neighbour. :y

Can't believe my rotten old fence is still upright.
I think it's the fact that I've neglected the pruning so much that's saved it. So much plant matter propping it up that it won't go anywhere! :D
-
All intact on inspection this morning , good old postcrete saved the day :)

I designed this 'hit & miss' to allow less wind resistance, for a 40 Yd run of fencing. It has been up for 6 years and never looked like coming down. For more privacy - not rqd here - you can increase the width of one side. :y

Yep, now we're not allowed to play with proper creosote, used engine oil dies the trick. ;)

Wohoo ! The fence survived a real bashing last night ::) Never heard anything like that before , wild winds and lights flickering for some time ::)
-
One of my fence panels disintegrated during the night, so a quick trip to Travis, sling one on the roof of The Merc, back home and slot it in between the concrete posts, job done!!! :y
Just sat having a cup of coffee, feeling quite pleased with myself and I've just noticed that I put the panel in the wrong way round... Sigh!! :(

Don't panic!!! I've just checked and the panel didn't have a 'posh' side like the existing ones. I'll switch it with one from the bottom of the garden 'sometime' ;)
