Title: x25dt will not rev past 1,500rpm??
Post by: RyanNI on 09 January 2014, 21:27:01
hi, working on an omega 2.5td, having a problem it will only rev to 1,500rpm if I put anymore pressure on it it dies out, reading the data display and everything seems ok, only thing I notice is the transmission programmed into the ecu is auto but the car is manual.

any ideas would be appreciated

EGR? Fuel pump?

fuel pump is getting 15mg/stroke at idle. i know desired is around 30mg/stroke. i disconnected the egr pipe which made no difference. would the fact it thinks its an auto have any bearing on it?

I dont kjow diesels that well so I was just suggesting the generic issues associated with your symptoms.   If the pump is running at 50% I would be dismounting that issue before looking anywhere else.

will try injection pump first

Slow down a mo. That's an expensive piece of kit :o

Right, so no codes stored ... Yes? :-\

Limp mode? :-\

Check the MAF, if fitted, they can play havoc on the TD's.  ;)

Yes, check MAF and associated inlet pipes (seen them pop off the turbo).

The MAF on this lump is little more than an anti smoke device, the ECU will back the fueling right off if the air flow is low compared to what it should be with respect to engine revs and boost pressure. Thus reducing excess smoking.

Could it be the potentiometer for the throttle pedal? Do you have access to live data?

yeah i have access to live data.

would bad injector leak offs that is drawing air cause my symptoms?

think the maf and pedal is working ok. only thing that stands out on data display is the drsired and actual fuel quantity

at a guess, you have changed the filter and loosened the heater collar on top of the filter, and are drawing air in?
or the fuel level is below a quarter and in tank pump is goosed?
any work been done on engine lately? does the engine when it runs run smooth?
1500 is where the turb0o begins to cut in,so check the pipe from inlet manifold to pump,if this is split you will not get the extra fuel required when turbo spools?
just 3 likely suggestions off the top of me head

well i put leak off pipes on tonight and they are spilling plenty. there is an inline filter beside the map sensor with a vacuum pipe in but there is no pipe coming out. any ideas were it runs to?

when you say a pipe from inlet manifold to pump the only pipe i have is the one to the map sensor.

any help appreciated

Is this the one next to the power steering reservoir? Post up and I'll have a look at my TD tomorrow. :y

Don't worry about in line filter it's meant to be open to atmosphere Just DON'T take all the vac pipes off it's a pure s**t of a job working out where they all go :y.
Try removing the vac pipe from below the manifold at num-4 injector and make sure it's clear this controls the boost to the turbo ( use carb cleaner). It tends to gunk up.
Is there any fault code showing up.
If your getting fuel quantity control out off range at the base of the injector pump there's a sensor you can take this out and clean it just be very careful not to damage it.
Also try starting the engine and then unplug the MAF if the engine then runs like a bag of bolts it's ok but if the engine tone stays the same it's knackered

should there be good vacuum at the egr on idle? there doesnt seem to be much coming from solenoid.

i am just remembering i had a bora one time done the exact same. i know its a diff setup but i had seized turbo actuator
