Title: OOF Taxi service.
Post by: Omega Cars on 11 January 2014, 12:56:24
Morning all :y

Firstly, I'm not technically a newbie, and have actually met several of you. I'm a fully licensed Hackney Carriage driver, based in Horsham, West Sussex, currently running a 3.2 Omega Estate. The car has heated leather, front and rear screens, freeview (subject to signal), DVD/USB, and free wifi (subject to signal).

Secondly, wearing this hat, I'll not be drawn into any 'discussions' about the best screenwash etc ::)

Over the last few months, I have been looking into ways of expanding my business, this being one of them...

What I am offering is a competitive long distance taxi service for anyone needing to travel to or from any airport/seaport. This does however depend on where you live and are travelling to. For example, if someone in Oldham wished to travel to Leeds or Birmingham, this wouldn't be cost effective, however if they were coming to Heathrow/Gatwick/Stansted/Harwich/Southampton, then I will look to at least match any local quotes if not beat them.

This applies equally, regardless of where you live.

Now the boring bits...

1.Quotations are just that, once agreed and the booking confirmed, the fare becomes binding.
2. Anyone whom I do not know with less than 2000 posts will be required to pay in full at time of booking.
3. Acceptable payment methods are Paypal, Bank Transfer, or Cash ( established members only).
4. Return journey legs will attract a 10% discount, if booked and paid for at the same time.
5. Any bookings will need to be made at least a week ahead.
6. Any cancellations within 24hrs will be subject to a 10% fee.
7. Short notice bookings in/around West Sussex and environs will be accomodated where possible.
8. This service is in no way affiliated to Omega Owners Forum.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to being of service to you.

Al. :y

Does your Hackney Carriage feature winter tyres?  ???  :P

Seriously though although its unlikely, should I need a taxi in your neck of the woods I'll certainly bear you in mind, but I know several around here who when they go on holidays get a taxi to Heathrow or Gatwick.  If I hear of anyone I'll get your contacts for quote.  :y

All the best!!  :)

One of the local undertakers has  a Montego based hearse. That would make for life's final indignity. Or death's first.

Al - maybe also consider credit/ debit card. I use taxis quite a lot and the convenience for me is enabling the trusted taxi firm with my company credit card details so that once fee is agreed they just invoice me and take money from account. I have done this for years which means they drop me and pick me up without having to mess with payment at any stage. They just email me the invoice and card fee and that is what appears on statement. Clearly trust on both sides.

This firm does loads of business from cruise ships because he has his services on internet and bookings paid in advance on card. He often has to farm out to others as he cannot handle volume but again he has "trusted" back up.

He has overslept twice on early morning stuff and if he does gives me a free journey to Heathrow. I am usually very early however so slippage is built in.

Trouble is several of my trips involve leaving Sandhurst at 4.45 am or coming back from airport at 9.30 pm. Good luck with it. al.

If you pm me your details I may need  a Gatwick to Sandhurst on Thursday night but a) I am on Easyjet so arrival time maybe suspect and b) not due to land until around 9.30 pm.

Appreciate it is well before 7th Feb.

Al would have my highest recommendation!
A last minute trip to Bath/Somerset was accomodated with no fuss, and a very pleasant journey it was  :y

Should have the ability to take card payments from most cards in place by the end of the month. :y

I should add, this will be an in car facility, rather than a prepay one, but is chip and pin, so no security issues :y

I'll certainly bear you in mind next time I'm off on business via Gatwick. Nothing on the cards currently, though. :y

Ditto, although I usually fly out of LHR which is probably a bit out of your way for such a short hop :)

Which reminds me to start looking at flight prices for next months trip to Tel Aviv..

I now have the facility to take card payments for invoice payments and prepayments. The in car 'Chip and Pin' system should be up and running by the end of the month :y
