Iv got this up on the MID of my Elite what does it mean...?
Iv noticed that the headlights are not exactly brilliant TBH does it mean that I need to change the bulbs...?
If I do I shall be changing to HID's and not the D2S's as they are quite expensive TBH...
TIA Matt

D2S are HID bulbs. ;)
Check arm hasn`t come off the front (n/s wishbone) sensor or the rear (n/s trailing arm) sensor

OK I shall take a look tomorrow if the weather is OK
Iv not had this Omega long and TBH the headlights are crap

Something wrong then because HIDs/'Xenons' are good. Check they're not pointing to the ground ..... ie are the adjusters broken.

Yes, the "headlight field if vision" warning suggests that there is, indeed, something wrong. ;)
If the headlights ecu detects a fault, the failure mode is that they dip to their default lowest adjustment on the level motors. Just saves blinding everyone until the fault is fixed. So the lights will be aimed too low and will be "crap" until the fault is found.
As said the first place to look is the sensor arm on the front passenger wishbone. Then the one on the rear suspension arm.
If all looks well there then its headlights out and chalk the level motors in the lights themselves.

It's not implicit that the FLD/VSN warning refers to the actual levelling system, it will also report electrical faults in the actual lighting system. If you have no joy with the levelling system then it would be worth getting it plugged in. Also make sure you have a good battery that is crucial.

True .... but it very often is ;)

I have "My Naff Code Reader" to use as part of my arsenal of tools, not had chance to connect it up today nor to get me head underneath either as Iv been at another car clubs meeting today (VVOC) and by the time I got home it was damp, cold and getting dark so TBH I couldn't be arsed
I'll have a look tomorrow I hope as Im taking out the Vx headunit mainly because its rubbish as start of my ICE install....
Iv not had this Omega long but Im not impressed with the BOSE set-up, I expected it to be quite a good system but turns out its dissapointing....

Whats disappointing about it, its not exactly a Modern System but the Bose System sounds (or should) a lot better than a the standard Mig set up.
-
I think it may be that the speakers are all shot and need replaceing... they are distorted whenever a hint of bass is even suggested to them.. even with the bass at half way... :-\
It doesn't matter anyhoo as I will be taking out the BOSE system and replaceing it all with my own out of my Vectra B ;D

What set up did you have in the vectra? I have a vectra myself, still on standard speakers but I should replace them. They sound well enough but can't cope at high volumes. Are there speakers available that will just fit into the original mounts without spending hours making adaptor rings?
-
A short answer to that is no.... they will need adapter rings (available quite cheaply from a certain motorists retail stores)...
My system consists of a JL Audio 12" sub in a bandpass box, Infinity components all round, 4 channel Pioneer amp to drive the components and a Ground Zero amp to drive the JL sub..... all driven off a (when its fixed) an Alpine D310r multimedia H/U.... can get quite loud if needed but also can be quite a quiet if also needed too, especially with a simple switch to switch off the sub.....

i had the same warning on my 2.2dti took it to the mechanic and they told me it would cost 300 pound to replace the headlight as the self leveling sensor had broke. After a quick look on this forum i checked out the sensor on the front wish bone and the we arm had rusted of the ball joint and wouldnt stay on.Couldnt get a replacement one so i kept in place useing a rubber hair band.I tried a cable tie but there is not enough streatch and it broke. That was two years ago and the hair band has only been replaced once.A ten pence fix compared to the 300 the mechanic was going to charge.

and a new headlight wouldn't have even been the cure >:(

Er, what do you mean by that exactly? It can't check anything to do with the ballast or whether the main bulb has lit or not ......
-
So anyhoo....
I finally got underneath my motor and the sensor on the front wishbone.... was none existant, so got replaced.. and the warning went away :) :y
Now for another problem......
I bought some new D2S bulbs from Ebay.... they came the other day, I fitted them and they take 5-6 attempts before the bulbs fire and stay lit..... I chaged back to the crappy D2S bulbs that came with the car and they fire straight away... now obviously I contacted the seller and as usual they said there's something wrong with the car or the ballast packs.... funny how their stuff is never faulty....
Anyhoo, Iv temporarily installed a pair of H7 6000K HID bulbs in place if the D2S's and there is so much light ......... on the floor..... I now need to find a good pair of headlight levelling motors so the headlights work as they should.... then onto the next problem (when will it end...?) ....... the adjusters are either broken or frozen/seized so they need replaceing with new/fresh to get the headlights to work.....
Just glad Iv got plenty of time and an understanding wife who lets me 'play and tinker' with cars

I had the excact same problem and was quoted 300,fixed it with a hair band has done great for the past four years replacing when need, but it came back from machanics last week after getting a front spring replaced and the arm is missing. The mechanic says he didn't touch it ,think he is a lier,is the any way of turning of the warning light in the car without having to replace the arm which seem to be hard to get.

Put the car on right full lock (or take n.s. wheel off) and check that plug on wishbone is connected properly. This was the problem with mine and my cable tie fix (2nd time) seems to have done the trick. It depends where you route the tie to make sure it doesn.t come adrift. :y HTH.
