Title: Another accidental ebay purchase.
Post by: Vamps on 02 June 2008, 17:33:06
Have half been looking for a scooter for youngest step son, 16 this week. He will be paying for most / some of it.  ::) ::)Swmbo not as enthusiastic as me but she will come round. :-/
Anyway put a daft bid on a new scooter from a local dealer, got outbid yesterday so had to increase my bid, I did this to the highest I was prepared to pay and won it for around £70.00 less than my maximum bid. Brand new, taxed and on the road. :y
Sent them an email asking if I could call in and pay for it on Wednesday, told them who I was and where I worked.  :)
Meanwhile an invoice came through with £70.00 delivery charge, there was a range of delivery charges depending on distance and this was for national delivery, I am about 12 miles away, so sent them a return email referring to my original, see what they say. They can get lost if they think I am paying that much, particularly as we can collect it.

Swmbo, didn’t make the fuss I expected, though did ask me what I had done when she came in cos I was being nice. :o :o :o

I don't think they have a leg to stand on trying to charge for delivery, unless they state no collection?

Yet another bit of e-bay hassle! :'(

Why bother with it when all 'customers' seem to end up with so often is hassle, loss of money, and raised blood pressure!   There are too many 'shiesters' / thieves around to increase the risks beyond acceptable levels. >:(

I wouldn't shell out for delivery --- but, could part of it be "preparation" ?

BTW - good outcome on the "fuss front" ----- careful tho -- might be being stored up for the future  :o

An update.
Collected the scooter today, no delivery charges and they took it out of the crate and helped me put it in the Citroen.  :y
Requires 'some assembly' missed that on the add, but nothing much, well within my capeabilities. It's in my neighbours garage tonight so we should get it together before he comes home from school tomorrow.Ebay Result. :y :y :y
