If your friend is asking advice of someone who knows nothing about it, I would advise him to steer clear of anything financial.  ;D
Tell him to leave his money where it is........safe. :y

I an no expert on bit coin but I do know that it fluctuates wildly and needs constant attention.

Good question.

I initially thought what a great idea and one day it will be.

Two things put me off.
1. The value recently rocketed by a large amount.
2. How secure will it be?  e.g. what is to stop someone hacking into your account and changing your history to zero and in effect stealing your wealth.

However if your friend has some money that they can afford to lose then why not have a punt. Afterall the folk who invested early in the dotcom bubble (and got out) before it burst made a killing.

2. after some googling and checking forums, I adviced the same..  honestly anything other than gold , diamond and some other precious metals like titanium,  all can go down  or become worthless toilet paper like some currencies..
3. as I I see it made the big shift in 2011 and 2013 so its not cheap to buy now :-\

honestly its a fictive/virtual money which I guess money masters didnt like.. so they will start to play with it and push small players to bankruptcy.. :-\

I think that the best way to make money from bitcoin is not to mine them or buy them but to speculate on the price movements.

It seems as though it's quite volatile as it started December at about $1100, but within 3 weeks was trading below $500 after discouraging noises from the Chinese government.  Since then it's drifted upwards and the price is currently $834 per bitcoin.

Remember though that it's gambling pure and simple, so don't go betting on bitcoin with money you can't afford to lose!!  ;)
