Title: back box hitting near petrol tank
Post by: Impact Pete on 13 January 2014, 19:40:43
Hi fitted a new back box in December, it was identical to the one taken off a
ie the 3 hanging bars were same length and exact angles etc, the only thing I didn't replace was the 3 rubber shock mounts.

The problem I have when going round corners at a fair speed the back box really clonks the metal frame next to the petrol tank, do people think it would stop if the rubbers were replaced?, they all seemed fine

Be worth checking the rubbers are still sound, and correctly located :y they have a tendency to slip off :-\

New rubbers certainly won't hurt :y

Would benefit from new rubbers as well as realigning how the centre boxes go into the rear to move the box further from the contact point.

Will have to have a try, there really isn't that much space either side its either too close to petrol side or too close to wheel arch area, had it once on my old Astra estate it went back twice to exhaust fitters before it was solved , but this time I did it!

Yup, not a lot of space there right enough. Even less with a tow bar fitted.....   ;)

I usually only use a rubber once , ( saves washing it out and drying it!)
