Title: Anybody used this company?
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 15 January 2014, 18:47:15
http://hasslefreeboilers.com/

From what i can gather.....a new boiler, spreading the cost over 12 years.....total cost nearly £5200

But they service the boiler once year, and free call outs for breakdowns.  :-\ :-\

Doesnt sound too bad considering the servicing and breakdown bit  :-\ :-\

£5200 sounds like alot for a £900 boiler, even if you allow £2400 for servicing and repairs... comes with a seven year factory warranty to boot. :-\

Great for budgeting, but what happens if summat goes wrong with you or Plumbnation :-\ will they move the system to your next house if you move....

Just get somebody in to change boiler, they all have dedicated after sales engineers, and cost wont be as much as the £5200,boiler service is about £60 approx.

I hadnt looked up the price of the boiler.....but i guess it would cost £2k - £2,5k to buy the boiler and get it installed ...most installs i reckon are about that price.....as for if i move....as i gather from website.....you either pass on cost to new owners or pay of what you still owe...

So...as you say if you allow £2400 for servicing and repairs......it still doesnt sound a bad deal to me  :-\

If your boiler is a like for like swap (e.g. same sort of system in the same place) it should not be more than 1500 notes as the boilers are around 800 for a good one and 700 for install is plenty!

Given that, the current warranty periods on the better boilers and the service costs its a right royal rip off!

It's playing on people's fears and creating an impression of value when in fact it is a scandalous p!ss-take :(

So....who can tell me why modern boilers need an outside temp sensor?  :-\

Surely if you set the room stat to 22C (say) then the boiler works to get that room temp....whats it matter how cold it is outside.....or is it something to do with the air intake temp of the boiler??  :-\

Probably more for the condensing pipe freezing (as new boilers will be condensing)

Well....ive spoken to a very nice lady at website mentioned....

Its not as straight forward as it looks cost wise....the monthly payment increases 3% every year....but you can buy yourself out at anytime.....i think she quoted me about £1500 after a year.....and decreases for every year thereafter...

She's sending me an info pack.....so need to computate the figures....AND look at the small print

She also told me, if you have a breakdown.....and call before 10am ... someone will be onsite the same day to fix it......after 10am it might be next day.....doesnt sound bad.....considering a BG contract...is we will turn up sometime....

Hmm.....need to think about this one

However as side note.....gas prices are bound to go up more than 3% a year.....so even with their 3% increase every year..... :-\

Hmmm maybe  :-\

Heres another good question.....i think... :-\

My old boiler has a 15mm gas pipe to it......if new boilers are suppose to be so efficient and use less gas....why do they need a 22mm gas pipe to them?  :-\

Its because modern boilers modulate the burner and the outside temp sensor allows the controller to back the burner off if it's warmer outside which slightly improves efficiency

Ah righty  :y Thankyou Mark......care to explain why they need a 22mm pipe?

The regs state a minimum pressure drop at the boiler and modern boilers, although more efficient, tend to consume more instantaneous gas with combis being worse.

Hence the need on most cases for 22mm pipe

The gas supply to your boiler must be close to its supply, ie short gas run, if it where a long run in 15mm then the boiler would be under gassed, if you also have a gas cooker and fire up 3 rings at the same time and it's not in 22mm pipe work, the boiler has biggest demand, will either badly under perform or simply die. Bigger is better mate and modern condensers use forced draught burners and gas valves which use atmospheric. zero govenors  to regulate gas pressure :y
