Title: Can't use My vehicle "Blackbox" DVR.
Post by: Varche on 17 January 2014, 08:01:57
I received one of these for Xmas and after figuring out how to change(no instructions) the default language from Russian I was looking forward to using it here in Spain.

Then I found out technically they are illegal. You cannot film in a public place without permission.(that means not just driving but I can't pull up, park and it film because of the motion sensor) What is more we have just had a bunch of laws (ostensibly aimed at reducing protests etc) passed that mean you can get substantial fines(thousands) for filming a police officer and so on.

I see that the Ukraine have just passed a bunch of similar laws, purely on a show of hands.

Yet I see that the UK police are considering the wider use of on board cameras on their policemen.

Thank goodness mine is detachable............

Pal of mine is a cop with Lincs Police & has been using one for some months.

I'm not sure how much it records - but she thinks "everything". The public are aware here of them and they seem to have gone down well by all.

Took my camera around the waterfront and some of the old docks a couple of years ago.
Copper appeared out of nowhere and proceeded to mouth various 'dangle berries' rules and regs about taking pictures in a public place.  Must admit I did have a rather big grin on my face at the time  ::)

When I asked him if it was common practice to stop anybody with a camera, he told me that a member of the public had phoned 999 about somebody acting suspiciously  :-\ and came out with something about anti terrorism.

Showed him the pictures and he went off on his merry way  :)
