Title: Hmmm....PC World
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 28 January 2014, 09:35:08
I hate these places with a passion but, was in need of a new router and they were well priced.

So I reserved online an Asus RT-N66U N 900 and drove to Loughborough to collect it.

Paid and got home, opened the box and guess what.....

.....it was a DSL-N66U N 900 with internal aerials.

Receipt is correct....product supplied is wrong.

So a phone call requried and then another trip grrrrr.....

Was it incorrectly marked on box? Pcworld are usually pretty good on reservation stuff.

Nope, box is correct.  :y

Clearly they didn;t scan the product and produced the receipt from the reservation (or the system is wrong!).

Call to customer services made....and no resolution, I have to wait for the store to call now

N900 wifi router we had briefly had excellent range.

Not that I have a great deal of experience with them, but it outperformed Virgins super hub 2 by about 20ft

Not sure the precise model, but it had external aerials.

Can't you get them to deliver it to you or to Castle Marina ???

So call placed with customer services at 9.39 and a commitment that the store will call me.

The issue I have is the lost time and fuel.....so they need to try hard!

Any bets on how long it takes for the store to call?

Never heard of saynoto0870.com ?  :-\

Quick butchers at pcworld site gives there customer services no as 08445611234 which i assume is the number you called  :-\

Bunging that number into above website gives a choice of 0800 0234701, but if your mobile provider charges for 0800 no's (mine doesnt) theres another number  028 8126 6582 which should come off your included minutes.

I had to call Inland Revenue yesterday and glad i used the above site, as IR advertise a 0345 number....30 mins of playing music at me on hold before i managed to speak to anyone  ::) but as i get 500 mins included, didnt cost me anything  :y

 ....

I have & tried to use one of the alternative numbers to phone Tesco bank ..... I failed  >:(. Ended up phoning the 0845 from my mobile ..... though not a huge amount (£6-odd) it does p*** me off all these companies that make money out of you by not supplying a geographical number .... Santander only shows 0845 numbers but there is a way round that by phoning the number you use from abroad - though it only works from a mobile  ???

I believe there's an 'app' ......  :-\

I had the same with a Humax box from Currys, nearest store with stock was Tamworth, half an hours drive away, went and collected it, got it home, wrong model!

Had to drive there again to get it replaced.

To appease me they will have to:

1) Supply the correct model
2) Refund the call cost
3) Refund the fuel cost

There's nothing stopping you from using the geographical number on the back of your card for overseas callers.  Sometimes banks block UK numbers but as said if you hide your number you'll get through! (dial 141 before number if using a landline)  :y :y :y

Doesn't surprise me. My aunt used to work for a retailer in the same chain and reports that customer returns just went back on the shelf. ::)

They have a 21(?) day no quibble return policy. Provided the item is sellable. In the packaging, all parts present and correct, no damage etc.

So yes they do.
