I think I'll treat myself to some new windscreen wipers as mine screech as badly as STEMO being dragged off to the Doctors!!  ;D

A set of wipers can be had for under £3 delivered!!!  :o  :y

The 10w40 is what is in mine. Although it was from the 200l drum at work.
Oil is oil. Get the appropriate grade, and forget about it until it needs changing again. I do mine yearly, which is 8-9000 miles.

Their online is OK, although you don't always get the brand you order, but "equivilent" (read, crap, inferior). I only ever buy in store in emergencies, as I've bought parts that have a date stamp, and has been sat around for over 3 years.

I generally try to avoid them.

My little bro used to be a fan, but has had nothing but trouble with just about everything from their recently. Most notably fuel filters - after changing, the thing wouldn't start, they replaced the part (once we worked out it was the fuel filter, as he did a full service on it), same. Replaced with a supposedly better quality one, still no go. So, original part back in, as that works. He's been chasing lamda problems as well, again having ECP initially supply cheap ones, then supposedly better quality, still not right. I think he's come around to my way of thinking, ECP supply crap.

Am I spoilt with the number of trade club dealers round here, or something?

Oil, plugs, filters all cheaper, are they not? These are dealer genuine parts. Why dick about?

The prices that get quoted on here for TC service parts are within a few pence of what I pay for quality brands like NGK, Mann etc. Considering that going to any of the 3 'local' TC dealers means an hour round trip and a gallon of fuel, buying what are effectively consumable items on TC IS dicking about for me, and any savings are minimal at best.

And the genuine parts bit reminds me of how a mate insisted that he was going to fit only genuine Mitsubishi plugs to his Starion(this was 24 years ago!), and not the NGK Rs that were in it when he bought it. This took him two lunch-hours, as it meant going from Maidstone to Bexley to order and then collect them, as the dealer had never sold any before. These things were 3 times the price of NGKs, but were 'worth the extra as they're genuine.' Of course, we didn't take the piss at all when he opened the Mitsubishi boxes to reveal 4 shiny new NGK plugs. OK, I lied, we still take the piss now!

In fairness, BuyPartsby/Sutton Auto Factors do this as well. They say on their home page that they supply only OE parts but if you order KYB springs they may well be substituted with Suplex springs.  :-\
It's why I stress what brand of part I want and also stress that if they haven't got that brand then I don't want it.  :y

Ok, seems I am spoiled for dealers. I have Reading and Bracknell near where I live (in Reading ::) ) and Slough branch near work.

But, through experience with cars AND bikes, I wouldn't say Ngk where a quality brand, and i've had nothing but good experience with bosch. So given I don't know anywhere cheaper to get bosch plugs, dealer on tc it is.
As for man filter, I know somebody who used to service office equipment for first line, who also deal with man filters. Rather than pay, they paid in parts he needed for his side line in car servicing.
Now I don't know if they where giving him the dodgy stock, but almost every part we got from there, for most makes, we had agro with. Buggered threads on filters, collapsed air filters, wheel bearings with play from new, fl wishbones, discs out of true. It was all shite. He insisted on cash in the end. Even their own bloke said "you didn't get our wishbones did you? They are shite"

There's an Ecp in my road at work. Never once been in there, until recently. Two staff serving totally befuddled , queue out the door.  Rediculous.

Locations aside, I really don't see the point.

Ah, tell I lie, used Ecp Reading for plug leads. As dealer ones are so expensive. Seemed ok. Not what I call a service part though.

I thought you were properly in the trade (apologies if I'm wrong), so the dealer should be delivering to you door?

I certainly have no problems getting stuff delivered (as my nearest TC dealer in now inconvenient to me).

As the company doesn't have an account with them, getting deliveries is a bit of a pain. As is working out who accepted the delivery and where the bits got put, as I'm out on the road most of the time. And as I said, service items simply aren't worth the hassle.

It's already running standard springs/shocks, KYB i think, Was just thinking these would be a step up from them without shelling out big money ?

Not with self levelling springs. If fitted?

If fitting stock shocks, it needs anything other than self levelling springs to go with them.

Edit, seen your last. They'll be fine. Assuming correct parts etc

Cheapest one for omega I can see is £5.64. For 1 blade, left front.

I agree to an extent...  ...but their is a quality difference, pattern air filters being a glaring example.

I held off buying the oil in the end as I know somewhere else that sells it for £12 in a 5 litre can and a local factor now and again sells GM oil for £14. So no pressure there.  :y

Maybe not, but they got rid of some naff old wipers, that were probably otherwise due for the skip due to shelf life, and got some publicity on their "bargain prices"

Or am I too cynical?

You cynical TB?  ::)

You might be right that they're naff wipers that are past their sell by date, but I'm certain they'll be better than what's on there and for £2.76 if they only last 5 minutes I'm not going to be overly bothered!  :)

Anyway, I havn't fitted them yet as it's.... er.... too bloody wet out there!!  :D  ;D
