So I have joined Detailing World and cleaned my door hinge (only had time to clean the drivers door). I have White Lithium Grease and WD40 ;D yes I know AndyB
But white grease is quite messy but I can try to spray it using the straw. If I was to remove the black cap and spray around the the hinge pin, would that work its way in?
I dont want to cover the outside of the hinge in grease like garages do to show they've done something.

I always use the white grease with the straw and wipe the excess off. :y
-
Do you spray directly at the hinge and do you think it penetrates into the important bits?
-
I try to get the straw as tight as I can so it forces it in between the parts. :y
-
Can I use dry motorcycle chain lube on car door hinges as its less messy than white grease?

It's others that have a problem with WD40 ;) ;) It has its uses, not many ...... but it has some. :y :y

You can, but it tends to be sticky to prevent it flying off. White lithium grease IMO.
Squirt and wipe. ;)

Thanks. lithium grease it is.
Does the check strap bush need lubing too?

Can't do any harm. But the rollers on the spring in the door are the important bit. Difficult to get to, even with a a straw on the aerosol.
Personally, I don't think it actually needs much lubing, other than those little rollers.

What did detailing world say about cleaning btw?

About how to clean or what products to use?
All purpose cleaner such as daisy or Flash and a stiff brush plus a lot of elbow grease. It took a lot of effort to remove the stubborn grease from the drivers side alone. Most likely that it's never been cleaned before. Last night discovered Bilt Hamber APC is supposed to work very well so will order one to tackle the rest.

Might try that, I used gunk on mine. Didn't even touch it.

ill post some pictures tonight
I used gunk too. It was next to useless. Flash (kitchen all purpose) was much better but still required a lot of work.

Perhaps a detailing how to in the guides section? :)
Re the hinge could you take it off, grease it up and put it back together wiping off the excess? Never took a door hinge off so no idea if thats viable? :-\

Would make more mess than not on an Omega given the hinges are all welded on ;D

You can draw the pin out with a pin tool, but the door is heavy and would need 2 people one with very sore danglee's ;D ;D ;D
