Title: Moving cams with belt off.
Post by: Vauxhalloofer on 03 February 2014, 18:26:41
Hi everybody, just a quick one on my 2.2 with the belt off, the cams went back on so there wasnt much pressure on them, this has left the TDC positions on each with the exhaust cam about 15 Deg after TDC and the inlet is 90 Deg after TDC.The crank is 90 Deg BTDC.Obviously i need them back at tdc is it ok to rotate anti clockwise to perform this to obtain alignment. Is this ok to rotate anticlockwise Many Thanks

Think i might of mucked up here.Ive not rotated them or torqued up the sprockets fully.Crank has been at 90 deg BTDC all the way through take it best thing to do is release caps slowly repostion cams with sprockets on to TDC then refit on both.Help lol

i think the exhaust cam will be ok as its not to far off, will the inlet cam if the tdc marking is 90 deg after TDC be ok to just turn it anticlockwise back to TDC.I worried it might flip.

If crank is 90deg before or after tdc then you can turn the cams as much as you like
