I'm after an electrician in the Camberley area, any recommendations? I need a pair of lights putting up in the garage.
Looking for something like these to be put up:
http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-high-power-factor-standard-switch-start-batten-1-x-58w-5ft-1528mm/72582 (http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-high-power-factor-standard-switch-start-batten-1-x-58w-5ft-1528mm/72582)
There is a separate 'Fuse Box/Breaker' thing in the garage, which comes from the main house fuse box. (House was build in 2012) - So should be able to feed into that.
Normally I'm all for 'cash-in-hand' deals, but this one would need to be on the books with invoice ect.
Any ideas what I would be looking at, to have a pair of the above installed? If i provided them?
Before anyone asks, no, I won't be doing it. Some here will have seen my wiring skills! ::) :-X :-X

On the fittings, I would advise looking for some HF start units rather than the flash crack starter style.
The tubes last much longer, there more reliable and the fire up faster, e.g.:

I believe he is still not well? Did not want to intrude.

Fantastic, thanks Mark. :y :y :y
They are a great price as well, will order a pair.
What would you think for Garage, 36w? 56w might be a bit excessive for a stand alone single garage?

can you have too much light in a garage? There are two 6' twin tube lights & a single 4' tube light in mine (thought the garage is a 30' long 'tandem' double garage)

Good point, guess it can never be too bright 8)

Tunnie - if you don't get sorted pm me and you can use my guy but he is not the cheapest but totally by the book. He lives in Hartley Witney - work on £25 an hour but he will give you a formal quote. We also have great plumber who is Yateley based.

Cheers :y
£25/hr sounds reasonable to me, surely not more than 2 hours work for 2 lights?
-
I might need his services too if you could ping me his details :y

I've never been well Mark ;), but I'm happy to pop over and give you a price if you want.
PS
All joking aside, according to the medics everything is "stable" here so far, and I'm up for getting back in to the swing of things.

Good to hear mate, I'll drop a PM shortly :y

It might only be a morning/afternoons work....including travel time....but unless he has another small job to goto, you might find he prices it as a days work ;)

Silly question, these come with a tube? States 'branded tube' :-\ :-[

Yes, includes a tube

A single 5ft florry would be adequate, but there is no harm in doubling up and potentially having too much light.

Could probably bash it out quicker if you are happy having the cables clipped, but that's a fair estimate of the time it would take based on what you said in your original post.

A cowboy would probably chance his arm at pushing for a days work, but it's no more than a couple of hours (give or take) based on the initial description, and that's exactly what it would get charged as.
@ Mark,
If you supply the light fittings, I'll supply the cable and switch, install the lot (cable clipped to wall), do the test, and issue the certificate (small works in this case) for £130 all in.
The above price is subject to looking at the job first, but if I am interpreting your first post correctly (you want it cheap as chips, but legal and looking half tidy), then the above price stands.

I can take some photos at the weekend if that helps?

Myself and Mrs Roid can pop in on the way back from Blackbushe on Sunday if that suits?

'Er indoors likes to hit the market moderately early and make it last till lunchtime, although the weather is proper crap at the moment so I can't see either of us lasting too long there.
Safe bet for availability is probably from 11:30am onwards, so whatever time from 11:30 onwards that suits Mrs T and yourself really.

Think I will be out then, best I drop you a PM early next week and arrange something :y

How come your photo's didn't show all the crap I had to circumnavigate when I was putting the lights up then? ;D
I can let that one slide though, especially as a cup of tea was in my hand within 5 minutes of arriving (unlike that Gixer fellow, 45 he took to make the tea....wholly unacceptable!)
;D ;D
-
Yeah sorry about that, photos taken before another van load of junk arrived ::)
Cheers for that, job jobbed now. Looking good, just got to finish the painting!

I think he outsources his tea-making duties to H, which means he needs to tighten up his QSA ie the hairy side ;D

He's probably just switched supplier because the previous one didn't supply enough football sugar. ::)
