Just done my heater plugs on the tractor as had been getting what ever the code was for it. Anyways with battery disconnected how long does it take to reset the fault codes????
Would be ashame to rig the battery back in too quick if you get what I mean. Thanks

I think all Bosch ECUs from that era store codes in non volatile memory.

You have more chance of clearing the codes with a sledgehammer than by disconnecting the battery ::)

I refer to the post immediately above this one. You need a code reader.

God dammit.

Take it the sledgehammer didn't work then :-\

Lolol. Wont resort to that just yet. Whats this I've been hearing about starting and stopping 20 times? Is it just to dash lights up or actually starting up and stopping engine?? Id imagine option 2 would be rough on a starter
-
Could try driving it for 40-50 miles... if the fault has been dealt with then the light will go out and the codes should be banished :-\
Starting/stopping 20 times will a) kill the battery, and b) not give the ecu chance to adapt/reset...

It's said that any stored codes will self delete after 20 'clean starts' .... I've never checked so don't know for certain. If the EML light is still on, then there's still a fault and 200 starts won't clear it. If the light is off, then just forget about any stored codes unless you have a code reader that will delete them. ;)

Eml was never on in the 1st place. Just got the code up on a paperclip test which hadnt been there previously

Some stored codes will celar after 20 clean starts.....not all.

You're in the proprietry age with the TD, so generic readers won't work.
I posted a guide on codereaders...
