Hi all just after a bit of advise ref replacing lead flashing on a flat roof. Existing lead flashing has had it, its cracking, split, pulling out of the wall etc so needs replacing.
I'm thinking of using the self adhesive flashband instead of lead as I cant really afford to redo it in lead. IS IT ANY GOOD...
Do any of you roofers use it or is it something you would advise against. If you do use it is there any brand you would recommend and what brands (if any)you would advise against.
Thanks

Flash band is ok,but never as good as lead tho,if replacing it with lead use a code 5,code 4 is ok but more likely to lift in very strong winds, got all the tools here to replace it,as i did my apprenticeship in leadwork :y

If I could afford to replace with lead I would. Thanks for the offer of help though, if I do end up going lead I'll let you know.

No no no no Don't use it >:( you will only be throwing your money away just use the lead :y Flashband is ok for a temporary but also leaves a mess that is a real bitch to get rid and dries out in the sun so leaks.

Flash band has it's uses but not as a replacement for lead flashing
The roofer I use always uses this stuff, looks very good when fitted right
Not cheap but also can't be weighed in

Lead or a good equivalent every time.....remember you can part fund the material cost with your scrap lead
-
Agreed, flashband is only a temporary solution. The only replacement for lead is lead I'm afraid.
-
I have used flashband in the past. I'm afraid it's crap.

I'm glad I asked... I thought it looked like a good cheaper alternative to lead.
If its that bad I'll look into the lead free flashing as that appears about half the cost of lead(and I don't live in the greatest of areas).
Thanks for the help...
