I'm changing the rear coil springs this weekend, does the car need to be in neutral with the handbrake off, mines automatic?
-
Yes and yes, helps diff drop lower :)
-
Would it be possible to use spring clamps to compress the springs and remove them with out the need to lower the diff?

I doubt it, I've just done mine last week. PM me if you get any probs. :y

Dropping the dif isn't as radical as it sounds(i thought ahh) at the time but it all went well.Found it easier with second person to open up gap to allow spring in/out without too much force

The clip on the brake pipe is badly rusted. As you look at it from under the rear of the car, in what direction does it come off?

There are two 'slide-in' clips, one each side. They are both the same type on my '99 TD. After soaking with plusgas mine both wriggled off nicely with mole grips on the flange pulling away from the bracket.
