Fine here:

That's speed limited by my wireless .. a bit more than that if it's a wired connection. Although I'm on '120Mb' it's a contended service, I suppose.. I know I can pretty much saturate it with multiple downloads and hit 100+Mbit if I really want.

As you clearly have a fault, have you rung them to get it sorted...?
-
"Utilisation" issues apparently >:(
-

Not being funny, but where in the UK are you? Anywhere near wind and water perchance...
-
You have a problem mines actually bang on the 20mbps it's supposed to be :o
-
126 Mbps downstream, and 11.74 Mbps upstream so all working as expected here....could well be down to local issues for you.
-
7.03 mbps down, and a whole 0.46 mbps up here ::)

VM Cable, VM National, or another service that is reliant on BT's 50 year old copper?
If the latter two, are you ADSL, SDSL, or Infinity?
-
BTs finest, wireless to tablet :y
Not VM in any way, shape or form... posted for reference :y
With a large portion of the south underwater, it grates somewhat that people bleat about things like broadband speed :-\
-
Quick as a flash here on VM 60,
Grandson is watching youtube beside me, he's only one so he gets off with it ;D

In Newcastle upon Tyne , so no floods or wind damage

VM are prone to people abusing the service to the detriment of other local users. All you can do is complain, and it that doesn't help, find another provider.

So neighbours hogging the line? :(

In effect, yes. Probably not immediate neighbours/street, but neighbourhood. I'd imagine it would take a few people to flatten it though.

Hmmm, will have to keep an eye on that. Virgin vans are ever present in the close these days, due to the poor bt lines. Looks like we've started a trend.
I will have to speak to H about chatting with the "oracle" over the road. >:(
-
You won't really get line hogging on virgin fibre cable feed, maybe on the adsl lines, it can drop the speed a bit but not to the amount that redelitev6 was saying. that is a fault and needs them to come and sort it.

I'm afraid you still do.

:( Been on to the VM help forum, slow speeds are a VERY common complaint , the standard reply from VM seems to be "things will get better when new equipment etc is in place "
-
:o Just done a speed test this morning and I'm getting 31 mbps !

Everyone else is still in bed ;D

Obviously a local fault, and cleared in what I'd call a reasonable time frame.

Wish it was a one off fault , I get very slow speeds every Saturday night

I suspect it will reoccur at the next peek time :'(

We have a local fault, currently on mobile network.
No connection at all on VM.
2mins 30 seconds of options, a further 5 mins in queue. Exactly 5 mins btw. Suspicious? Me?
Indian fellow advises technicians estimate up to 8 days to repair. But problem should only exist at peak times.
From 8pm on it should behave. We'll see.
£8 credit applied. ::)

As I'm nowhere near the south I shouldn't be affected by the weather 300 miles away

Your just upset, again. There's plenty of other fish in the sea Esta. ;)

I do wonder whether areas of Reading and/ or Reading have been abandoned in broadband terms a bit like regions have been left to flood in certain parts of the country. There may be a logic that such areas should not be saved from loss of Internet connectivity as there is minimal impact in the grand scheme of things.
-
Maybe its access via satellite, given the delay. ;)

Nah. That's thinking time.

Get yourself a T Mobile unlimited contract and use that to tether to, or switch to Sky/BT :y Cancel the VM contract, and if they start bleating, then point out that they have breached their contract by failing to supply services that you're paying for...
By switching you stand a fair chance of getting a decent deal with AN Other provider :y

Good lord, a real life RFC1149 (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1149.txt) implementation?!
-
Mr Gixer - How can you possibly still be without broadband. You must have a dodgy cable into your house. You should ask to speak to escalations. I had a similar problem a few years ago and they came out and redirected some cabling.
