Good morning guys.
Recent problem with my 2002 2.2 diesel.
Starts ok and runs ok until it heats up and then engine management light appears, rev counter stops working and a distinct lack of power at the accelerator pedal.
The cooant level warning came up on the display last month but it must be a faulty sensor as I've chacked and the level is fine.
Can any of you knowledgable people perhaps shed some light on my problem?
Thanks.

Do you have any fault codes?
Could it be the maf sensor?
Can you disconnect the maf to test ?
-
Checking for codes is a must but, its crank sensor symptoms.
-
It is crank sensor, not to bad to do,but use genuine part :y
-
Thank you very much for replying - much appreciated :y
While I'm here, are 'you guys in the know', knowledgeable enough to clarify the problem with the 'CHECK COOLANT LEVEL' on the display? The level is fine.....is this likely to be another sensor???
-
It's the sensor in the coolant bottle.
I would get the codes read for the other problem, it does sound like crank sensor which is an easy job but just to be sure :y
-
Yep that happend on my 2.2 dti rev counter stopped also my consumption screen went to 00 like the car wasnt running but it was the crank sensor that went on mine hope this helps. But you might be better off getting it plugged in
-
Thanks guys, your help has been very much appreciated :y
I'm taking the chance and purchased the crank sensor and coolant header bottle - just under a hundred quid from my local Vauxhaul dealer.
I've printed off the details of how to fit the sensor from this great and informative site and I'll let you know how I get on when I tackle the job in a few weeks time.
Thanks again. Top bunch.

Crank sensor fitted and my car is running great again :y
I also fitted a new header coolant tank and all is good there too!
Thanks again for your advice guys.

Guys.....my engine management light has came back on a few times....not much power at the pedal but the rev counter is working ok.
Stuvk it on my mates Snap On diagnostic machine and LOW BOOST CONTROL is showing.
Can anyone enlighten me???
-
Check all vacum pipes are ok and not split.
-
Thanks.....but surely if there was a split on a vacum pipe, it wouldn't be an intermitant fault? It happened earlier today and lasted for about 5 minutes and then engine management light went off and the car ran fine.
-
Well I took the car for a 20 mile run and had no issues - can these cars throw up false codes???? Perhaps there was a little bit of dirty fuel???
