To deoderize the interior of a car. I bought an Elite last week and its in brilliant condition but the previous owner was a smoker and being blunt, the interior stinks. I intend to give the leather a good clean and feed and wash the windows but ive got a feeling most of the smell will be in the roof lining. So any tips ;)
TIA

Split open a bag of charcoal and leave it on the back seat for a week or so? Never tried it but it's supposed to remove niffs.

When I used to valet cards, we used to do a full wet clean (including the head lining) followed by leaving a powerful de-ioniser on the back seat for 12 hours.

stick a wet dog on the back seat for 2 days. that'll get rid of the smell of smoke. hopethis helps. :y :y :y

i took mine to our local big wash the other day, when they're done cleaning they stick a freshner over the mirror, but the smell kinda disappears as you get used to it, but with the warmth outside i drove round to see my girlfriend at her parents house just now with all my windows down and the sunroof right back, and when i pulled up she was outside and she said "your car smells nice, i could smell it before you even got here!!"

FRABREZE i hate the smell of it but gets rid of the wet dog smell. so i reckon if you use a whole bottle it will get rid of the smoke smell.
or try that new household one arh whats it called........ :-/ :-/ when i remember ill come back. brains not workin today :'(
-
I would use one of those aerosol bomb aircon cleaners, they clean a lot of smells out.
You know they type, about a tenner, put em behind the seat and turn on with the aircon and recirc on for 10 mins

You,re local B&Q will sell a stuff called "sugar soap" , painters and decorators use it to get rid off smoke stains when painting ceilings , a mild solution of that on a warm damp cloth should do the trick !!

Best thing to do Pete is to start smoking - you won't notice it then! ::) ;D

I have had cars that smell damp as they have been parked up for long periods :-/ I usually just use an air freshner the stale smells gradually fade.

Neutradol is another winner. Spray that into your roof lining.

Got to agree with Mark here, the water gets in and the cleaning chemical just drags the muck out. But if not too bad try a foam cleaner and genlry scrub the wort bits with a nail brush .
Just go over 2 or 3 time with the upholstry machine to get the liquid out.
Put seat covers over the leather first.

yep..wet cleaning is necessary..
if shorter drying period is desired alcohol including seat cleaning foams with paper towel gives good results ..Tried before..

i cleaned mine with persil automatic. all over then i started smoking in it ::) ::)

this was 5 months ago, then my boy dropped a full large mcdonalds coke over back floor, ,
its been 5 days now since ive smoked, getting to me a bit, was quite sarcastic in pub earlier, bit of a stressful day running round for x then pick boy up from school, go and see m8 in hosp, then have a look at 2 jobs, was knackered when i got in pub and thirsty ;D ;D ;D

Try Odour Zapper from Aldi . Similar to Fabreze but more concentrated which seems to allow it to adhere to the surface longer.
I used it recently on an old feather sofa and was most impressed.

Fabreze will mask the small, all it does is seal one smell in the fabrib with annother small, when it wears off you are back to squre one.
If you remove the dirt (smoke fumes) then you remove the problem and it also looks cleaner and nicer.

It's like the smoke on the walls in houses and pubs, you use sugar soap to wash it off, you dont paint over it to hide it.

I use the a/c cleaners, then a good squirt of that oust (which seems better at removingthe underlying whiffs than many others). Trouble is, car stinks like whores draws for days...

Ask Ljay - she must be hugely experienced in removing the smells of Jimbob :P

bicarbonate of soda, or epsom salts mixed 10/1 water concentrate will rid anything of whiffs. Also good for stain removal and on carpets ect.
(Read a womens house magazine on nights!)
