Is there any issues with changing the front springs and shocks absorbers.
The front end is very twitchy and its gone though a set of tyres in 6,000 miles.
I also want to swop the rear shocks at the same time.

You will upset the camber, so it will need a full geo check afterwards.
Mind you, if you've wiped out front tyres in 6k, I'd wager my left gonad that its inner shoulder wear, which points to the camber being shot anyway...

The tyres have worn equally across the tread not on the edges.
The problem is I don't have a manual for the car have a Vectra manual that cover the engine but that about it and also don't really have the time to do the job.

Unless you know when they were last changed, you would be well advised to replace the following...
Wishbones
Track Rods
Steering idler (if mileage is over 100k)
Shocks
That way you only need to set the car up once. Also, depending on where you are, your best off taking the car to either Wheels in Motion in Chesham, or Nigel Langs in Bolton for the alignment :y

There's nothing there that suggests faulty shocks to me. Are they leaking? How many miles on the car? Does the bounce test see excessive movement? Suspension should bounce back up once compressed and stop. If it bounces repeatedly with no control then shocks buggered.
Your symptoms suggest set up issue. Possibly caused by age or failed bushes. The later means attention to wishbones. And given you need set up regardless, as said, it makes sense to replace faulty parts first.

Bushes and set up are key to omega handling. Only then, once that's done, is it worth fitting new tyres. :)

nothing there suggests anything wrong with the set up at all, but it might just be the make of tyre you have, some tyre brands last 6000 miles and some may last double that, also it can depend on driving style and tyre pressures.
Rear shocks are easy to do and there is a guide in the maint section.
