I would like to fit a relay in the spare slot in my relay box to control a switched supply to the TD intercooler fan.
The only spare slot, second from front, has nine pin holes in it. Can anyone suggest an appropriate relay for this? Also, how can I access the underside of the relay position to wire it, i.e. how does the box come out?

The relay socket pops out (from the top). you should be able to see a retaining clip.

Yes I can see a clip. I assume there will already be unused wiring attached to the bottom. What is the normal procedure with these? Just cut them off and seal the ends? Also I have no idea what relay to use. I have a spare one which was the old flasher relay, 12v 8A, with 5 pins (As here :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-YELLOW-RELAY-GM-13-100-516-12V-8A-/251290535150) off the 3.2, which does fit in the slots, but will it be of any use? In any case I have no idea how to connect it, as there is no cct. diagram on the relay. :-\ :-\ :-\

Most of the relays are std, so you can get diagram off the tinterweb.
All my cars have been fully populated, so never had "spare" relay sockets.
And wires you cut are part of the loom, and may have voltages on them, so you will need to insulate them all... ...and keep them off the bottom in case of water ingress.
