Hi Everyone,
A very sad morning, my beloved omega has had the head gasket go :( it is still drivable, had 4 new tyres last month, has a 10 month MOT, and 3 months Tax, it misfires some cold mornings, and there is some white smoke.
I was just wondering should i just scrap it? or try and sell for spares / repairs??
Any advise would be most welcome...
Ben

Fix it, 4 pot HG not too much trouble. Maybe get JamesV6CDX in to do the work? He did fatherT's 2.2 HG some time ago, still going strong.
When my 2.2 blows its HG, without question, it will be fixed!
Out of interest whats the miles on yours? My dads 2.2 failed at ~100k, mine is still on it's original HG at 168k! I think coolant and oil servicing is key :y

Hi Tunnie, i really would rather fix it, but thought it would cost the earth! is JamesV6CDX local?
Mines done 147K now but i wouldn't have any other car now!

James is fairly close. He's either in Buckinghamshire or Gloucestershire iirc.
Drop him a line :y

Shouldn't be to bad as the four pot is easy to work on :y

James can give you a cost, but not talking mega bucks here. As above, the 4 pots are easy to work on, so much space. Gasket itself and other bits are cheap enough, if you source the parts make sure it's a multi-layer gasket for the exhaust manifold.

James is your best bet,he's not to far from where you are as I was at his place last week :-X send him a P.M and ask for his opinion,he may well be able to help you :y

Cost me about £70 in parts last time i did a 4 pot vauxhall :y
Dont think you will get another Omega for that money but then again :-\ :-\ ;D

There are enough going to scrap so fix it
-
Please fix it. I did mine 4 weeks ago, replace all gaskets and seals, replaced cambelt and water pump, parts cost me £210 pounds, not alot of money, well worth it.
