Title: Alternator/Aircon Ford KA Question.
Post by: Joiner on 09 March 2014, 19:53:01
Evening folks,

Quick question regarding an alternator for the young'uns KA.

The alternator has gone up the swanny so will be ringing round for a replacement tomorrow. I know that there are two versions available, a 70amp for the KA with PAS but no AC or a 90amp version for the KA with both PAS & AC.

Now I am almost certain that my daughters car has no AC as there are no AC controls in the dash, just the basic ford fan switch. However in the engine bay there are indications that there is AC such as what looks like an AC pump above the alternator with an Ali pipe coming from it.

My Q is, if there are no AC controls in the car then surely it cant have AC?

Any thoughts at all peeps?

Cheers, Chris

PS: I know the best solution is to get the old one out first but its finding the time over the next couple of days so I am hoping to order a replacement ahead of removing the shot one.

Are you sure you're not looking at the power steering pump? I'm pretty sure that is mounted above the alternator.
