Title: 'I'm leaving Westminster to take up politics'
Post by: tigers_gonads on 14 March 2014, 14:47:09
Tony Benn
I didn't agree with much of what he said but he was one of a dying breed.
A honest and dedicated politician if they ever was one.
I doubt there will be any more like him sadly  :(

In my mind there are two main types of politician

1. Those who do it in order to really make a difference

2. Those who do it as a career move.

And there are far too many "career politicians" around these days.

I didn't often agree with him, but I believe that he was one of the very VERY few who are/were in politics for the right reasons.

A real legend of a true, totally committed, socialist who I loved listening to and although I did not agree with a lot of his ideology, he got my respect!

He was an old style politician who truly believed in what he preached and put the later New Labour Party to shame, as he did not need spin doctors!

Rest in peace Wedgie. RIP :'( :'( :'(
