Great spot.
Brings back memories of my grandparents buying the Rail Rover tickets for Wakes Week (factory shutdown) so we visited a different resort everyday by steam train - usually hauled by a Black 5.
From memory the visit routine was -
Liverpool, Fleetwood, Blackpool, Southport, Llandudno, Morecambe, Colwyn Bay - Chester might have been in there as well.
This would have been 1950s.

I agree it's a bloody miserable place these days, main summer trade seems to be the Scots going there to get drunk as skunks!
