Title: 2.2 Miss fire
Post by: plym ian on 01 April 2014, 11:32:32
Miss firing under load also of I blip the throttle. Read codes before starting it up and said miss fire cylinder 1. Cleared that one took it around block a few times eml light on read codes again still mids firing and now says miss fire cylinder 4. Have checked coil pack for signs of damage ie burning and I know the plugs are fine as I changed them a couple of months back. I'm confused as to what it could be.

Any help appreciated cheers Ian

Fresh plugs?

Could well be coil pack breaking down, how old is it/miles?

Coil pack idealy needs testing with a test plug with circa 40mm gap.

Any oil in the plug wells?

Tiny bit of oil, but I cleaned them out when I did the plugs. I know cam gasket needs doing.

Just been out again to look at coil pack realised that one of the rubber tubes has split I think when I changed plugs and there's a bit of oil in well which would cause it to short right?.

Just swapped tube for another one that's not damaged took it for a spin and mis fire seams to have gone and no codes. That might have been the problem hopefully  :)

Can you buy the rubber tubes on there own at all?
