Just when you thought the RAC windscreens job had struck third time lucky..........
...........the bloody rubber trim pops out and destroys itself at 50mph!
Phoned customer services and they will be getting back to me....
-
AAARRRRGGGHHHHH
keep fighting and demand compensation....They will pay, I have a letter confirming it :y

Sorry to hear this Mark.
I think with my insurance you only have the choice of two windscreen 'suppliers' otherwise they will only pay a small proportion of the total cost.

"Snap". If I use any other than Autoglass or Auto Windscreens they only cough up £150 .... and, with the cracks that seem to be multiplying, I will be using one or t'other very soon !!

I have, its a large sealed locked room with the useless windscreen techs in it and a large window. Outside is a large vaccum pump connected to the room and I have control of the switch.....now then, wheres my zyclon B......
-
They have just called and asked if I can pop it down for them to look at......I said, its the rubber trim that goes round the three sides......so got to pop it in for a look see.
-
I don't believe how a so-called professional organisation can screw things up so consistently !!!
At least Autoglass - who replaced mine 5 weeks back - "appear" to have done a decent job ... touch wood :y :y :y :y :y :y
-
I have just popped in for them to have a look at it.......and.....
......its got to come out AGAIN!
So, its booked in on Thursday AGAIN and they will replace the screen AGAIN and fit new trims AGAIN!
-
I'd be inclined to write another strong letter to high level management stating that should this attempt to rectify the problem also fail, then you will take the car elsewhere to have it fixed -properly - and the bill will be presented to them .... via the small claims court if neccesary.
:)
-
RETARDS!
-
FFS. Was thinking of centre-punching mv6 one, but with admiral who use rac, so dont think i'll bother....
-
I had my rubber trim come adrift the other week at around 90mph ::)
I stuck it back in with a small bead of black poly sealant that i pinched from my last job. I've had no problems since :y
Mark, if you have more problems, PM me & i could pop over with my sealant gun & we could sort it :)
-
I really dont fancy your chances of them ever getting it right. just an idea but I know that some kwik fit places are much better than others, staff more experienced, inventive etc. It may be worth taking it to another depot.
I notice my meriva has had a new bonded screen at some point and all seems well.
-
Sadly just applying a little sikaflex isnt an option because the trim has been torn when it came off otherwise I would have done it already.
I pity the complaints department tomorrow! :-X
-
Car taken in this morning and will be ready by lunch time........watch this space.
-
Indeed we will ;)
-
sweepstake on quality of the job?
I'll have shite!
-
Here's hoping ....... but I won't hold my breath ..... :( :(

sometimes you speak from my heart ;D:y

While we're all KwikFit-bashing, I might mention that I looked on their website yesterday for a price indication for the new tyres I'm having fitted by the local garage today.
They ask for your registration number then come back with the car details and tyre size.
They said my 1999 3.0 Elite Auto should have 235/45 R 17-93 tyres fitted. I think that may be the size for the get-you-home spare.
But I don't think they'd go too well on my 16" alloy wheels. :)
-
they would probably fill the gap between tyre and rim with the same sealant they used on marksdtm windscreen. :D ;D
-
Tire shops >:( ... long long story
I have changed 21 and more ..lost the count now..
:(
-
I make it after lunch.....do we have a result?
-
Yes, well after lunch..............just got back >:(
So, I get there and its 'sorry Mr Russell but we broke the screen whilst removing it so had to get another one in'
'Ok, so how long I replied'
'About an hour'
So, went back an hour later and its nearly ready.
Then the foreman walks in and shows me the rubber trim and how its ripped.
I said 'yes I know, we went through all this on Tuesday and you were going to order a repalcement'
Anyway, to cut a long story short they hadn't ordered a replacement and it had only just arrived when I turned up the second time..........and they hadn't broken the screen when removing it.
So, its got the same screen (saves getting yet ANOTHER OOF tax disc holder!) and new trims.
And I would rate it as an OK job, 7/10.................but, there bloody lying buggers, I hate it when they tell you porkies!
