Title: Another lesson learnt (I hope)
Post by: Leomas on 12 June 2008, 17:42:00
Been running with a bit of a misfire for a while now but thought 'what the heck....it's not a REAL problem'....oops.

Failed the MOT on emmissions which was a shock since it runs LPG so thought I'd better do something. Was driving it home from the Test Centre and there was a whistle from the back which matched the engine revs. OH thought I , must be an exhaust problem. Took it in and slowly the bad news has been unfolding.

Whislte was an exhaust blockage, caused by one CAT breaking up, caused by unburnt fuel coming out from one side, caused bu a bad DIS pack.
Moral of the story...when you know there's a problem look into it.

Lesson learnt, move along now...it's just a poor(er) man crying in his beer

Never leave little problems, thinking you'll do them 'in the summer', as it will bite you on the backside.

Cats are normally reliable, so try to source some 2nd hand ones from a breaker (pattern are rubbish)
