I understand the sentiment, but is it right that small children, say 5 or 6 years old from Jewish and Muslim families are put into the political front line like this where they starve or end up in a religious conflict with their parents.

Personally, I think not for the children's sake even though I don't have much time for politicians pandering to certain minorities, who make unreasonable demands on the majority in society.

Surely, if the parents of those children wish them to follow certain religious practices, especially over food, then those parents should be feeding the children, not demanding special diets from the state ??

The freedom to follow your own religious practices is a freedom, and should not be a demand that others support/provide you with the means to do so.

Schools are there to EDUCATE .. not to feed children or support those, or any other, religious practices IMHO .. :)
