Title: MV6 coolant change
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 06 April 2014, 18:43:43
I last changed the red (5year) coolant on my MV6 shortly after Mark DTM replaced my oil cooler. This was  2011.

However, I now can't quite remember how I did it in any detail.

I know that I require 4.5 litres of the red stuff for a 50/50 concentration, but I'm also sure that the radiator doesn't hold more than about 3 litres.

My question is this. What else do I need to remove (yank off) in order to be able to fill the system with 4.5 litres of GM red?

When you have a spare morning, repeated empty rad, and fill coolant bottle with neat water, and allow it to warm up to stat opens. About 10 times.

At this point, system will be neat water. Empty again, and fill with neat coolant. You may be lucky and get 4.5l in first time. If not, warm car up again, more these time to get it all thoughly mixed, then drop out a litre or so, and top up with neat.
