Hi all
My car had a hiccup yesterday. Whilst driving sensibly just coming of a speed hump, it started to miss fire, loss of power and the mill light came on. I stopped straight away and turned the engine off and back on again, the light was off and all power restored.
It's been fine today so a bit puzzled.
I recently had a leaky cam gasket which leaked on to spark plug 5. This has now been fixed. So I'm thinking has this caused the miss fire, oil damage to spark plug and coil pack.
I'm going on a 500 mile journey at the weekend so going to replace coils and plugs as a precaution.
Main questions are
Is there anything else I should consider as a cause to miss fire?
Are pattern copy coil packs any good or do I buy GM ones?
Thanks

Check exhaust isnt losing hair out the rear, could be a blocked exhaust

Pedal trick to check for codes would be first port of call.
If replacing coil packs, genuine Bosch available from a Vauxhall World Parts at the most reasonable online price I could find.
Check for codes first and post them up here.
Someone will advise.
All the best.

Not worth guessing on the fault, although cp does sound likely. See code reading in maintenance. You want the pedal trick. :)
If as suspected... Any factors should be able to supply genuine bosch. Ring round for best price. They will usually want to beat the best price. £70-£80 a side was about the mark when I got mine a year is do ago.

I couldn't find anybody with cp in stock in Bournemouth so went to Manchester with the old ones. It's been ok except when I stopped to pay for m6 toll and had to stop turned engine off and back on and all was good after that. Tho driving home today so fingers crossed, good job I have break down with courtesy car.
No hair from exhaust and fitted new one last month. Tho thanks for the suggestion the mad mechanic.
Will keep u all updated.
