Title: Stolen - Missing Omega, 2000 FL White Ex Police Saloon.
Post by: zirk on 12 April 2014, 15:23:52
This car Would have been Lifted or Trailered from Private Property from the North London / Herts Borders in the last 9 days.

The Omega is a White Saloon, Ex Police, on an X Plate, with 15 Steels and Plastic trim covers (Not prepared to give the Reg out on a Public Forum), with 3.0, Manual, 3.7 LSD Diff, GLS good Interior with Wood Effect Trim, Body work all panels good, no dents or damage, all Police Holes filled in.

Whilst I expect the Car to be in bits by now, tell tail signs, would have been crack in windscreen, drivers side lower, missing ECU, Transponder and Keys and had a brand new GM Cambelt Kit fitted to it.

Would appreciate anyone keeping an eye out, or more probable being offered or seeling parts or panels being offered or for sale that might relate to the car.

Exhaustive searches have be made with Police, Councils, DVLA, and official Lifting Companies and Storage Pounds without success, Car is now reported to the Police as being Stolen.

Thanks Chris.

Gits

I hate car thieves with a vengence. How the hell do you spell that word!

I know it is "only" metal. But anyone who has had a car they have spent some time working on or spent time looking for right colour, right spec etc and had it stolen knows the anguish. ten years breaking rocks on hard rations and then hung drawn and quartered wouldn't be enough.

This suggests to me that someone knew the spec of that car, as at their price now it would be almost cheaper to buy a standard Omega than steal one!

This is totally unrelated but a bit of a warning I guess, but last Friday I was out front working on the cars when two Eastern European guys pulled up in a bit of a dog Mondeo and started by coming up front and asking me wether I wanted to sell my cars, and even asked me where the white car was?fortunately it is up with Daz at the moment, but which straight away set all the bells ringing to the fact that these guys have been nosing around before. They got a firm NOT EVER!! and I asked them to shift as I was busy,I took the reg number of the car and spoke to cops about what had happened, they checked the car with the DVLA and it came back as scrapped ::)and as they said to me there's not much at this point that they can do but flag it  for a stop if it turns up,which is understandable.Luckily I can park the cars off road and put SWMBO's new Kia across the front of them.....well let's face it who's gonna nick a car that's made by people who eat cats and dogs for dinner...Yuk :o :P mind you she bought it!
So in the light of what happened to one of Zirks cars then it may well pay to make sure that your car is well and truly secure before you park it up last thing :y

I'm starting to get paranoid with the cars now,as I spend more and more hard earned on them I would truly be gutted if some piece of slime nicked one just to bust it up for spares,....christ where's the Valium...and make mine a double :y

Poor old Mig, but seems the preferred method. I caught this on my dashcam beginning of the week. Looks like a G4S van on a low-loader & the old bill hot on his heels........related  :-\

I think a bigger threat these days is from Eastern Europe, where Omegas are much more expensive than here and are treated at the luxury end of cars. I'm sure many are stolen, exported and then stripped to keep other Omegas running. Where legal importation is very expensive in some countries, I'm sure some are stolen to order, illegally imported, converted to LHD and cloned to replace accident damaged or scrapped cars.  >:( >:( >:(

Would they even bother with that?  :-\

I'm sure that if you go far enough east to the 'Stans' for example there are plenty of RHD's going about. :-\

Yes, because it is relatively easy to do and some Eastern European countries do not allow the registration of RHD cars, so as a clone it would stand out like a sore thumb.

In the Ukraine, the corrupt police will use the slightest excuse to extract money from any opportunity, even more so if a law has been broken. :o :o :o

In terms of the most corrupt officials in Ukraine:

1. Police.
2. Tax officials.
3. Border Guards.

Russia is not better. Corruption in both countries starts at the very top. EU helping Ukraine get rid of it with their free trade agreement and the election of a new generation of politicians is what scares Putin as it might look an attractive option to Russian voters and Putin certainly has no intentions of allowing that. When people in Russia vote the wrong way, it is not unusual for the number of votes to exceed the number of registered voters in a district, once the Putin correction factor has been added. :o :o :o :o
