So have a fl mv6 and there is a misterious coolant leak. Have changed waterpump, now changing the coolant valve( the black thing in the back of the engine). Now discovered during the disassembling that it looks "wet" around the valvecovers back side of the engine. Any ideas? The coolant that comes out has no oil mixed in, oil looks ok also. and the leak seems to be higher than the head casket.

Coolant bridge seals, hose pipe from coolant bridge to HBV, oil cooler plate seal, thermostat cover seal.
How much coolant are you losing?

A lot, have to top it up twice a day :D

That suggests a split hose or Heater Bypass Valve...
Was the valve a new GM one or an ebay special/second hand? The spiral hose from the coolant bridge to the heater valve is the usual culprit for splitting. Best bet is to remove it and check for cracks/splits :y

As said thats a lot - I would look carefully at the hose pipe from coolant bridge to HBV as that is on main ciruit - tend to go by clip on coolant bridge end ;)

The HBV game from Germany, but i think its not GM original( its made by Vaico Autoparts), but its not the cheapest one either.
If the hose is broken, does the replace one has to be ready spiral or can it be "bent" from a straight hose with no problems? You know people in Finland does not like big engines so its hard tho find parts. If anyone can tell me where i can order a good seal for coolant brigde and oil cooler plate seal and coolant hose(set)?
Anyway long weekend is coming, so i will have time to take a better look under the bonnet. Fingers crossed itīs just a broken hose/seal not the head gasket or core plug :)

P.S When the engine is turned off I can actually hear the "bubbling" sound, best wen open the water tank. So itīs like sucking the air in....

Any vx/opel dealer will have dowty washers and cooler plate sealant. (It's not a gasket)
Pressurise the system to see the leak being forced out. Hose needs to be the correct one as it will kink otherwise.
I doubt it will be the hg or core plug. They sorted these issues out on the later engines. My money is on hbv. It's the highest point in the coolant system in that area.
And it will bubble if you releases the cap, as its a pressurised system when hot.

So took it appart today and if the oil cooler plate is the slim plate in the bottom of the "valley" then this seal is the problem. Somebody has taken it off for some reason and it is put back useing the seal paste :'(. Now i have a problem to get the plate out to put a correct seal in. Can anyone guide me how to get it out?
And the leak, the only one i could see, was from the bolt hole while the bolt was thight shut :o
So fire away all the ideas how can i get the plate out to replace the seal, hopefully without removing the head or cambelt. ;D

If your talking about the Oil Cooler Top Plate, it will pull off without having to to remove it from the Oil Cooler, ie comes out complete, look at the cut outs in the plate and then compare it to the obstruction and it will kind of make more sense. :y
