Having been reading a few tales of woe about oil problems with the 2.6 V6, and the demise of the engine, is there any way to get an actual pressure reading instead of the, it's too late now, red light. It doesn't have to be fitted to the dash or inside the car. Just some way to see what the actual pressure is, as a check now and then. For example, is the pick-up filter starting to get blocked.
Either analog or digital would do.

Not done it on an Omega, but the old fashioned" way was to unscrew the oil pressure warning switch from the block, insert a "t-piece", screw the oil pressure switch in one side and a remote pressure reader on the other .. I'm sure a "blanking" piece could be fitted if you didn't want a permanent remote reading ..... or even a flexible extension with blanking piece just to make life easier when you want to take a reading ???

A pressure reading wound not be much use in this instance as it would be the "draw" side is where you want the info.
If your feeling hands on anyway the best coarse of action would be to drop the sump, clean out the strainer of any silcone/crud/old socks and keep up regular quality oil changes.

Dropping the oil pan is one of the easier tasks on the Omega - I would guess that fitting an oil pressure gauge would actually be a lot more work. :-\

pressure switch unscrews from pump, screw in t piece but both pressure switches on and wire up gauge. that's not hard is it

It is easy i go oil pressure, oil temp, volts and exhaust temp for my car :y

Thanks everybody for your input. Cars due for a minor service and MOT in a couple of weeks so I will get the
garage to drop the sump and have a clean out if it needs it. I wondered where my old sock had gone!!! ::)
