Post by: omega3000 on 25 April 2014, 20:54:13
Have no rear blind in my 1997 MV6 . Assuming the loom is there , can i retro fit a blind without too much hassle ?   :-\

Yep, fairly easy. Bit if a faf pulling the rear interior apart, but its doable.

Guess it would be best to get a parcel shelf with the blind built in rather than cut mine to bits . Cant see a guide for a retro fit anyway  :-\

Food rear seat out the way. Remove 10m nuts from underneath.
give old shelf lots of pulling as they some times stick to the rear screen glue, for bit more room remove rear pillar trim. When the shelf is out the wiring should be clearly visible, either taped to the steel shelf or tucked away in a piller.

fit new shelf, plug switch into dash, working shelf. :y.

Loom will be in place, so its pretty much a straight swap.  You're difficulty will be finding a parcel shelf without the bose speaker cutouts. You're looking for a blind from a pre 1998 Elite (ie, non bose)...

...annoyingly, had you asked before July last year, I could have given you one

Could always leave the speakers in place and not use them  :-\

Also, remember you need the switch to match your dash - pre 1998 had the more durable coating, slightly rough effect. 1998/1999 had the soft touch smooth finish that wears, and FL won't fit.

Got a black rear parcel shelf here with the blind cut out,but also has the speaker holes too and sorry but dont have the bose speaker grilles.

Sure I have the blind unit tucked away somewhere but seem to remember it wasnt working too well.

Drop me a pm if you are interested in the shelf, but think postage might not be cheap. :-[
