I'm leaving soon to go back to the vauxhall straight 6. I'm about to purchase a k plate senny 24v. I know that they are a bit ugly and getting old now but nothing beats that 3.0 24v staright 6 not even the moderner v6's. If any body id interested my omega will be up for sale in a week or so.
-
You'll be back Thomas :y
-
oh no i wont, not unless the senny blows up and i cant source another and if i ever have to join the v6's again i will only be with the 3.2 not my silly 2.5 that i have at the moment

The Omega A was available in saloon and estate (Caravan) bodystyles as a competitor for the likes of the Ford Scorpio and Rover 800. Like the late Rekord, the Omega A adopted the Vauxhall Carlton nameplate for the British market. The Rekord-based Opel Senator A was also superseded by the Senator B, based on a similar concept - a stretched Omega platform and body along with some unique sheetmetal modifications.
-
Still i wont be back! ;D Your just jelous lol!

No Thomas you can't leave us so soon after joining....it is not allowed!
;D ;)
Anyway, there is no harm in remaining on this site where we often talk about Senator's under 'General Chat'! 8-) 8-) We still LOVE :-* :-* Senny's! :y
Are you a member of Autobahnstormers? I would highly recommend their club magazine 'Straight Six News' as it features many articles about Senator's. If I could afford it I would run both a Senny and my Omega. Dreams, oh dreams!! ::) ::)
-
sell the mega and get a senny. I know that on them cold winter mornings when the 15year plus engine gives you hassle and wont start 1st time you will be p***ed off but as soon as it does fire and you are driving down the road, the smile on your face will make up for it all, you know im right

.......and I would add the great big straight six engines, with loaded interior / electrical packages and superb ride quality that gave 'all day' 120+ mph effortless cruising. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :y

My Senny never did give me any problems whatsoever; always fired up first time no matter what the conditions. :y

People may knock the senny but when the 24v engine was relised in 1990 and the 12v from 1987 they had and the remaining examples still do have as much toys and gadgets as your omegas, and they had a 10stack cd player compared to the megas 6 stack, i know its petty but its true. That staright 6 24v engine could still give your 3.0 and 3.2 v6's a run for its money. Didnt it once hold the record for the fastest mass produced saloon car in the late 80's and early 90's ( so i read somewhere)
-
Ok then an even bigger smile is expected then. Gaurantee tomorrow morning when you get in your omega you will chuckle to yourself and wish it was a senny.

I wouldn't argue with much of that, if at all! :y
Just a great car with a 'cheese cutter' grill to proudly show its pedigree. :y :y :y
-
i know mines a beemer but i think i know where your coming from the sound of that straight six is wonderful.....and anyway your always welcome on this site.... :y
-
I'd get a bigger one if i was getting in a Lotus Omega/Carlton.
or a Monaro
-
OH that grill lizzie, what were vauxhall thinking when they designed that grill but its so iconic. Very brittol though. I shattered 2 on my old one just by closing the bonnet a bit to hard. My favourite part has to be the twin tail pipes. I love the shape Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Oh my god im going mad look at me getting all excited over the car!!!
-
LOL Thomas
-
If you get a lotus carlton then your not gatting the senny 24v experince! Have you ever driven one? if you havnt i would strongly advise it.

In the latest edition of 'Straight Six News' Page 65 I have been reading about engine conversions for a "Monster Monza", and they mention the 360 bhp 3.6 twin turbo Lotus Carlton engine ;) That has got to pack a decent punch! ;D :y
-

That was the title given to the Lotus Carlton, it also held the title of the world's fastest 4 seater and fastest front engined RWD car for many years as well untill Ferrari built a 199 mph 4 seater.
I dont think you have to work on any V6 Miggy owner on the merits of the 24V Senny, we all love them and many of us would like to have the best of both.
The one saving grace is that you are staying faithfull to the 24V Gm /Vx and not jumping ship for a Ford or a Jap.
I for one hope you stay in touch with the forum and post us some picciesof the Senny.
All the best matey :y
-
whats this all about selling the mig!!!
(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj182/richierich1961/sSig_banzor.gif) ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Sorry i have to sell it i cant and wont run both. The omega was only a replacement for my old senny and didnt match up so i'm gettting rid. And as for the lotus carlton was that mass produced?? But im just being negative because of my love for the sennys
-
I know for certain race/rally classes they had to be mass produced, and someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe that number had to be a run of 200 cars or more, the LC ran to nearly 900. The Ferrari F40 was only ever expected to 200 +1 for the Ferrari boss but as it was the only Ferrari at the time making money they carried on prodcing itand made a few hundred more

But why buy an loyus carlton these days when im sure you could pick up an M5 for about the same price

Equivalent M5 at that time wasn't as nice as the GSi3000 24V

Personal choice,
Why buy a Senny when there are other options
We pay's our money and makes our choices.
If I went for a beemer it would be one of the older ones, and given the choice it would be a 3.0 CSL

Who wouldn't Thomas over the thought of acquiring a Senny! In fact they must be the ones who are mad if they cannot appreciate that! :y
As for that grill........a great idea as you could always recognize a Senny half a mile away by it....very useful if it was a white police patrol car! Saved me from acquiring a ticket on many an occasion! ;D ;)
-
Good luck with the Senny. I always wanted one when I was younger, but the couple I've driven recently (both 24v 3.0) have been disappointing, both performnce wise and handling (too 'pointy' even for me)
-
funnily enough, 4 out of my 5 senny's were white. (the other was a metallic burgundy)
really useful when in a hurry back then i can tell you.... especially with aerials on the roof for the phone and radio.,....
my favourite "B" was my F reg 12 valve. (somewhat tweakified engine.... ;) )
i did more than 250K in that.
the H reg 24 Valve was alright, but used more oil, (long term at high mileage, it was alright to start with though) and being red, got less respect on the road.... :y
the best ever though was the D reg 12 valve Senny A (facelift) I had.... same (rather tweaked) engine as the B , but smaller lighter body... brutally quick , ate Cossies and M-Beemers for breakfast.... again, covered better than 250K ..... (and was for a time, the fastest hackney plated vehicle in the uk )
-
Nothing wrong with Sennies in my book. I'm sure i speak for most of us in saying you don' have to break off 'cos you're selling the Mig.
It's a bit like the Mafia or Hells Angels, once you're in you're in, so do'nt be a stranger, you're still one of our gang!!!!!!!! :y
-
oh guys im welling up with the support. I will be sticking around to show off my Straight 6, a proper engine.

The suport is deserved as you're right that the straight 6 24v is a proper engine, but I think that some may slightly resent the intonation that a V6 Omega isn't a proper engine.
I know I do. Personally if I had a choice I'd still have my 3.2 Elite over a Senator, but I don't decry your choice or even look down upon it from a superior stance.
