Title: Passat parking brake
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 02 May 2014, 17:29:50
I discovered today, what the little orange light on the dash, looking like a handbrake with a line through it means.

It means the little motor inside the one of the calipers has packed up and you need a new caliper  :(

Still, had the rear pads changed at the same time  :y

The little light has only been on a week  ::) Im kinda missing it being on now  ;D

Consider yourself lucky, as they normally seize on. And they're really effective, which makes moving the car interesting.
Electric parking brakes are hard to justify, and the Passat implementation is particularly poor. Fitting the motor directly into the caliper was a stupid idea.

Check the multi plug wires on the caliper for corrosion  :y
