Did you remember to display the ticket and set the clock, though round here they do not worry about the time. :)

yes mike i did both, and i was well within the 3 hour limit.the only thing i can think off is that maybe you can only park at certain times of the day.i probably should have looked for a sign nearby with details on. :-/...edit,something about parking in an area where restrictions are in force. :-/

As long as you are not in a loading bay and there are no loading or unloading signs you should be fine. You can park on double yellow line, but you need to be sensible and not cause an obstruction, one of the things that people moan about, and rightly so. imho  :)
assuming you were parked OK I think you should challenge it, was it issued by the local council? or a private company, either way challenge.

Well worth checking the signage and road markings, if they are not exact the ticket is unenforceable. For example a lot of the double yellow lines around here are open ended with no end marking all of which are unenforceable .If that is the case appeal against the ticket

Does not matter, in the case, as long as there were no loading bay signs you were ok to park. :)

Don't forget though, you can only use it if he is with you, same with a car if you get a motability one, you can't use it to go to work etc. :)

Cheers Mike, just looked into all that.
Decided to put motability car off for now until i get my MV6 out of my system! Have claimed tax exemption instead.

Sounds like you know a bit about all this.

same with the road tax you can only use the car if your disabled relative is with you....according to the nice dvla woman who told me mum off for taxing my car and was going to report me to the police for driving with no road tax...so icancel the road tax and pay for it legally......

Dont tend to go very far without the little fella in tow!
Only work a couple of evenings a week, so will use Jimbobs car!

Would be more helpful if they concentrated on untaxed and uninsured drivers instead of frightening people! ::)

Hope your poor mum didnt take it to heart too much.

You can do some things without the disabled person in the car, if it is on their behalf, and this does include going to the shops or to metings on their behalf or in their interest etc. So It ives a fairly wide scope but is still abused by some. There again so are disabled parking places, a really personal annoyance.

I was just reading the thread , but Mike has picked up on the same thing.

Most of it is common sence.

Things like parking in disabled parking area's (with out the disabled person being there)

A disabled persons does not have to be in the car, but the basic premis of being granted a Disabled tax disc is to help that person, so shoping on thier behalf is feesable,

So is paying thier bills and booking thier holidays in town, the fact you are going on holiday as well is a bonus, and if you pay your bills at the same time etc.

I cant exactly see a police officer or traffic warden complaining about you shopping unless you are buying a pink dress and the tax disk is in a mans name.  but then they could have paid for that pink dress as a birthday pressent for you, unless of course you are a man, even then the case could be argued.
