If you can get trade prices, either via ABS or a trade account, Vauxhall are good.
The front discs come as a set with pads, I think around £85? :y
Rear pads are cheap, but the discs can be pricey, are they really corroded?
Also need to get the right rear discs, as I think the 2.6's have vented rears like 3.2 :)

I know that the MOT in december, and the previous one, had an advisory that one of the fronts was "pitted", so may just replace those (prefer to do them in pairs), and get new pads for the rears, and check the discs then. As a friend will be doing it, as I am a complete non mechanical person, I will ask his views

just had a call from vauxhall, and just the front discs and pads...... £189, YIKES >:(
-
Non trade club price that.
As an alternative to Vx the Bosch discs and pads are very good and available from Euro carp parts (if you have a discount code) or car parts 4 less (the cheaper version of ECP).
Beware though, that when the brakes over heat they can catch fire.

IIRC Front Discs and pads come to around £100 on Trade Club.

Walk in and tell them you want the tc front brake kit... should be no more than £130 with the dreaded.

if your gixer or Tb. But the likes of tunnie or ploders should be fine for Sunday type drivers.
