What would the cost be to replace one of these ? I don't have the car pass so will this be a problem when ordering one? :(
-
If you buy the bits and the pass I can programme it for you
-
Really? What will the Steelers charge for the bits?
-
Not sure but I think you piece the bits together from ebay, blade, fob and a virgin chip, and the pass is about £30 from the stealers.
-
Oh right well that's not too bad is it?
-
Mine was £65 from a local locksmith. Programmed and working. Done on a Saturday morning while I waited, which isn't the case at Vauxhall.
-
A local locksmith huh??
-
The key actually works but all the buttons died on me in one go? Changed battery for one i know was ok but still dead...

Be wary of getting keys programmed by the cheap Chinese clone of a piece of kit starting with an O, esp if yours is a car with a factory alarm. I've seen 3 shagged alarm ECUs now, after that particular piece of shite has screwed them up.
Not sure what sort of ratio this is compared to successes, but to see 3, all after being programmed by this reader, is unheard of. The only other similar ECU I've ever seen failed is a Central Locking (which is in place of Alarm ecu on base models), history unknown.
If you are offering such a service to members using this particular, non-legal clone (so no comeback with manafucturer of device), ensure that both you and the car owner are fully aware of the risks, that may disable the car.
//Edit: Seen an immobiliser shagged as well, and heard of 2 others that were too far away for me to deal.

car pass is £25 - £30 depending on dealer, had 3 different prices from dealers around here, they all seem to charge around this much though.
new fob cost me £32 last year from vauxhall.
-
IME, carpasses vary from £17.50 to £55 + VAT, so worth shopping around, not just your local dealer. And I usually find they are happy to negotiate a price, esp the more expensive ones.
-
What are car passes anyway?

What are car passes anyway?
Details of your car, specific radio codes, programming codes and mechanical code. :y

I see.... So i need one of these then? Ya know just incase? I only wanted a blummim key :D
-
It's worth having, means you can get a key cut without having the key. So if it's lost/nicked you are covered.
Worth calling around, as prices do appear to vary fair bit dealer to dealer. :y
-
Weird how prices alter within the same organisation ?
-
They are franchises, not the same organisation.
-
Never realized that?

Really? You get Now Vauxhall, Perry, Arnold Clark ect...
-
well yes i understand that but assumed prices for bits n pieces would be the same seeing as they get there parts from same location.
-
Car pass not a part, it's an admin job so they charge varying amounts :y
