Title: Vectra c air con warm when fan on
Post by: megaomega123 on 20 May 2014, 11:25:16
Hi All
I need to post here now as I defected to the vectra. Vectra forums are pretty useless compared to the help I have had from here in the past. Hopefully somebody will understand my problem:
I have a strange problem with my air con. When temp is set to lo on both sides and the fan speed is 0, I can feel nice cold air as I drive along. As soon as I put the fan at any speed the air flow becomes warm. Had a regas last year and it worked for a little while. There is obviously gas in the system as I can feel it when the fan is off.
Why does it warm up when the fan is running at any speed?
2005 vectra c 3.2v6 gsi

TIA

Because the airconditioning isn't working...

Does the compressor clutch engage as it should? Should clunk as it kicks in, along with a slight increase in revs.

Also, is the aircon switched on in the cabin? The snowflake button on the climate panel should be illuminated :y

Compressor is spinning up as it should. Air con is switched on in the cabin. All working as it should until I switch the fan on  :-\
It's like when you switch the fan on it draws hot air from somewhere.

Needs a pressure test first, check the LP port first, also bottom of the condenser.

Does the plumbing to the evaporator get cold like the Omega one? If so might be a control panel fault...

Does that have the two temperature controls, one either side with the blue and red dots and the temp settings displayed on the screen :-\

Yes it has the controls you describe. Not sure that the pipework is getting cold, will need to check. I used to get dripping and small puddles from the omega.
Just cant understand why it is icy until the blower motor is switched on  ???

If the control panel has had a fit, anything is possible...
