Title: corsa vxr
Post by: mick-1975 on 21 May 2014, 20:04:35
Evening all . My girlfriend has a corsa vxr which has sat on her drive for 3 weeks while she been driving her focus st. Anyway I took it for a run and noticed a noise coming from the rear of the car . Its like a clicking noise when the brake pedal is pressed . But cant hear it when going slow . I have checked the hand brake and that seems to be working ok .
any ideas please .thanks mick .

Are the pads seated correctly?any springs or shims missing? Sometimes the pads move loosely in the calliper or the springs don't hold the pads still. Then when applying the brakes the pads are moved round by the disc and they click when they come into contact with the calliper inner sides.

Drive for a while with the handbrake lightly applied.

I suspect there is a small ridge of surface rust on the discs that you can hear.

I did try driving with the hand brake on a while the noise louder but still same when hand. Brake off.
Anyway missis took to local stealers
They saying it needs new discs new pads as they say it has something called BLUE SPOT
Have u ever heard of that oh and the price £270 .

I think blue dot is the type of brakes used and as on a vxr are performance items  :y

UPDATE .
About this noise on this corsa . Anyway picked the car up this morning and took it to a local garage that has been servicing this little corsa .
Dropped it off and explain what was happening.  Anyway got a call earlier car all done all it wanted was a CLEAN
NO NEW BRAKES AND PADS FOR £270 ...JUST A CLEAN AND THE PRICE £25
Think they tried a fast one on the missis . She not happy .
Glad she listened to me for once as told her it did not need new ones .

Main stealers wanted 270 . Just shows you what they really like .. just to make a quick quid .
